Which one to buy? I see the different versions. I’m not sure about amps and such. Is it best to get the highest amp version that is available. Price difference isn’t that much on these.
No need to go over 60A since the MME can only pull 48A. Unless you want to use it with a future EV that may be capable of more.

Keep the tally up. Once I get the final details from the owner of Tesla Tap (should be Monday) how I get the offer to stay on the front page of the forum?

@OrchidMania or anyone else who may know: Why is the discount limited to the MINI adapter?

I've been thinking about the regular TeslaTap 50 because:

  • It's built with parts rated to 50 amps continuous -- exceeding the 48A maximum of our Mach-Es. (Though I'll note the finished product is not UL Listed or Intertek registered.)
  • It's over $50 less than the TT MINI 60 amp product, after accounting for the discount on the MINI.
  • Its design looks as though it'll put less strain on the vehicle's charge port, though this is a really minor concern.
The MINI looks svelte and I'd be able to squeeze it into the same bag with Ford's mobile charger... but that's not a big deal to me.

Also, it looks like the Lectron 48A adapter is similar to the MINI but roughly $80 less expensive at their asking price of $150 shipped.

The owner is out of town this weekend and promised he would get back with me on the details. I did ask him if all products were included in the discount (just no response yet)
Yes the Lectron is cheaper, always has been. From what I have read the telsa tap is a superior. I am not forcing anyone to buy this.

Lectron is also offering a 5% discount. Though it's rated at 48A max, rather than continuous.

Awesome, thank you for asking.

Understood.

By the way, I do appreciate that the TT is packaged/assembled here, is a small business operation, and is supported by Dave, its owner in California. Whereas Lectron is out of Hong Kong and manufactured entirely in China. Dave is a super nice guy. (I called and asked him some questions in November 2020.)

I'd not recommend either company's products for daily use... I don't love the idea of an extra adapter in the nightly charge gear setup, and neither one can be safety certified since they violate various rules just to make them.

But these are great for peace of mind, for "in case of emergency" use when arriving at a hotel that promised me universal charger access but in reality is providing only Tesla connectors.

Lectron is also offering a 5% discount.
Yeah I saw that but I wasn't sure of whether the discount applies to products already "on sale" (the $149.99 price is a "sale" price). Maybe it applies, I didn't check.

Though it's rated at 48A max, rather than continuous.
To be fair, neither product publishes a spec sheet on their web sites. Both market with some confusing terminology. The Lectron says "charge at up to" 48A and the TeslaTap says continuous use at up to 50 (or 60 or 80, depending on product).

The 5% does come off the $150. I checked.
You make good points about the small business aspect.
My problem is that I don't really need one, but all this talk about them makes me think I should have one in my car 'just in case'. ??
