This obviously doesn't happen every time, but happened once to me. I have phone as a key set (though I've never actually used it.) and carry my bob. Once recently at church a vandal walked by and found my car unlocked and took the owner's manuals out, scattered everything around, but otherwise did no damage.

And yet, of all of these, walk-away is the only one that will not actually lock if any of the doors are open. All of the rest will still lock the doors, even if some of them are open.
Yup. Because all the others you manually control it.

The walk away assumes if you have doors open, you want the car open.

And now you know.

Scenario:

In the car: A driver with the car key and a passenger.

Both leaves the car and go pick up things from the trunk. The driver with the key leaves first and goes away so the key loose the connection to the car. The passenger after a little bit close the trunk and leaves the car as well.

Expected action:
After a short time the car should lock it self as it does if both leaves at the same time.

The actual action:
The car will not lock it self and will be unlocked until someone with a key enters the car and leaves again or locking the car using the app.
I’ve tested the scenario a few times with the same faulty result. :( I get the same result with a key as well as a software key on my iPhone.

Burglary…
A burglar came by my car at 4am this morning and probably saw that the side mirrors were out and directly went to the passenger side, opened the car door and emptied the glove compartment and took some other small things he could find. (I have it on camera so I know what happened.)

Report bugs?
How can I/we report bugs that we find?

Summary:
Please pay attention when the car key is not last to leave the car.

It seems reasonable that Ford could allow people to customize this. You could tell it to auto lock after 30 min or after 10PM when not in use.

Really sorry this happened to you man. I'm not reading all of this thread because F that but I have had it lock for me after fiddling around in the trunk.

That being said, I have also had it not lock a few times as well.

As I'm walking away from the car every time, I wait to hear the car honk to notify its locked. It happens about 98% of the time without fail. For the other two percent, I pull out my key fob and lock it.

Other cars I’ve had have locked it self when all doors have been closed for a while and the key is away.
Like you OP, most of my previous vehicles had something of the similar. The last EV I had, made by VW, had an alert that you would get if the vehicle was inadvertently left unlocked. That was sufficient because even though it didn't auto lock after X minutes, it still notified me.

When I got the MME I missed that feature and it's been discussed on here before on threads where other members had their car broken into. My solution was to set up a Home Assistant notification that would send an alert to my phone if the door was left unlocked for 10 minutes when I'm away from my house. I understand that not everyone has HA and I believe that Ford should add something like this natively. But if you do have HA or for others who have it here's the YAML code for the automation:

YAML:
alias: MachE Door Unlock Notification
description: ''
trigger:
  - platform: device
    device_id: (your device ID here)
    domain: lock
    entity_id: lock.fordpass_doorlock
    type: unlocked
    for:
      hours: 0
      minutes: 10
      seconds: 0
condition:
  - condition: device
    device_id: (your device ID here)
    domain: device_tracker
entity_id: device_tracker.pixel_6_pro (replace with your device)
    type: is_not_home
action:
  - device_id: (your device ID here)
    domain: mobile_app
    type: notify
message: Check the Car Doors - Unlocked for 10 minutes!
    title: MachE Doors Left Unlocked
mode: single

Another scenarios is you and your passenger in the car. The driver walked away and the passenger in the car. The car auto locked. The passenger open the door to get out of the car and the alarm sound.

I went to the dealership and asked them to apply all updates that’s available for my car and they did. Now it’s even worse than before. The sensors seams to get the wrong info so the car won’t turn the alarm on. Anyone else seen this? I’m using the FordPass Widget on iOS to get the correct info as the app will not tell if the car is locked or not.

Some of you have said that I have to big expectations but after I’ve talked to friends with other car brands and I’ve realised that most other brands have a feature that lock the car after a certain period or send a push notification that the car is unlocked.

Please look into this and apply some options @Ford Motor Company as I like to have my car for my self.
