THANK YOU!!!

Having now read through it, yeah, it doesn't look like something I can do at home. :) Hopefully the dealer is adept!

Feeling optimistic, finally!!
Yea I'm trying to determine what that adaptor and previously unknown plug is. Appears to be USB but allows a ethernet dongle to get a port vs the console usb port which doesn't.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
Ford Power-Up Software Update Failure Message And/Or Unable To Update The APIM Or TCU With The FDRS And USB Drive - Module Recovery

Issue: Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E and F-150 customers may report experiencing a Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass. In addition, some technicians may experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) or telematics control unit (TCU) using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. It may also be observed on the PTS - Over The Air (OTA) dashboard that multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, or a no OTA history message is displayed. This may be due to a internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to recover the APIM/TCU.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:
Thanks for posting this. I’m sure it’ll provide some assurance that things are back on track for those affected by this problem while they queue up at their dealers for the remedy.

Ethernet over USB is very much a thing, especially for embedded boards.

TSB 22-2117 was published this morning. This is the fix you all have been waiting for
Hope so, I made my 10K appointment this morning and the service person said there was modules that needed to be updated on my car. Never had a service person say that. In the past, I always had to educate them on these updates. Crossing my fingers!

Just to corroborate with what everyone else has posted -- my contact at the Ford OTA Escalations team also confirmed to me today that TSB 22-2117 resolves this issue once and for all. I've got an appointment... time to put it to the test.

The end is in sight. I think. :)

I suppose we should note for the record; Ford achieved this fix BEFORE page 80 of this thread... Go Ford!
We've still got 20 pages where it doesn't go 100% or service departments don't know what we're talking about.

Just spoke to the service manager at dealer. He has to order the adapter. He said he will call as soon as it gets there. Coming from Ford.
He's just gotta go to Best Buy or staples.
