That‘s because it had already downloaded.
I understand that it was already downloaded ... but I have never experienced any of that while I was connected to WiFi religiously every night in my garage. I even installed a repeater system so that my garage had full strength WiFi signals ... my area in Winderemer got full 5 bar 5G AT&T wireless signals all the time ...but nothing! Now I have to park outdoors at all times in NJ and it seems that the car is communicating better. I am now convinced more than ever, that the OTA does not rely on Wi-Fi nor 5G wireless signals ... but good satellite coverage. I checked on my Nav and definitely more satellite coverage in NJ, both GPS and Glonas satellites ... thank you for sharing your knowledge I really appreciated your comments.

What I am saying is that even though I had the updates scheduled for 02:00AM every day I never got anything ...but the minute I got here in the NJ/NY metro area ... bingo! I got two updates one after another>
Correlation does not equal causation.

The current wave of updates all happened at the same time. You just happened to arrive in NJ at that time.

Being in NJ did not cause your updates to begin.

Having grown up in NJ (born elsewhere), I can attest that your state of mind can be affected when in the state. #ILiveElsewhereNow

I don’t think living in Windermere is preventing you from getting updates! You are much closer to a metro area than I am! Our car is not connected to our home WI-FI and we still get updates via cellular.

If you turn off your WiFi, and go someplace where there is no AT&T cellular service, all updates will occur on the 12th. The 12th of never.

I have to say, as someone with a November 2020 Job 1 build and travels the interstate every weekend, this entire Bluecruise process has been really rough to experience. I bought the car knowing that blue cruise wasn't available yet, but was supposed to be rolling out "very soon". Then the GT's were released with it enabled out of the factory. Then promises were made that BC would be available for all MMEs before 2022, then that got pushed to "Q1". It's going to be Q2 or later for me at this point.

Meanwhile I've been waitlisted on the EAP since August 2021. As somone who was going to pay for BC regardless, the "free BC trial as an apology" angle still sucks.

The level of service given to Job 1 owners has been well below par. @Ford Motor Company

Congrats to all EAP members who are seeing updates. I imagine you make up about 10% or less of all Job 1 & 2 owners who were pledged BC during Q1 2022.

Yeah I got my first ever update when my car was parked at our Disney hotel last December. I just ruined OPs theory, sorry!

As stated by others, the latest barrage of 2.4.x started within the last week. I live in NJ, ALWAYS park outside, am in the EAP for BC, and I just suddenly started getting the 2.4.x updates as well. It was a coincidence that you got here at about the time they started pushing updates. They had them on hold because of a problem with one of them, but they fixed that problem and started pushing the updates out again.

The advantage that humans have over other animals is our ability to recognize patterns better than those other species. Unfortunately sometimes that causes us to see patterns of causality that aren't really there. Your favorite team doesn't win because you wore your lucky socks, and your car didn't start getting updates because you crossed the Delaware.

I honestly think that’s just coincidence. I could be wrong, but as I said before, I don’t think Ford is implementing that sophisticated a strategy. I’m pretty sure they just have someone operating the big claw to select the chosen ones ?
I really wish it was self-selection as someone else claimed in another thread. I’d self-select in a second!

If going to Jersey is required to get updates, I’m screwed ?
