Oh, I thought the expiration date meant that Ford would stop trying after that date. If it's actually the date that they will wait before trying again, that is good to know. Now I can stop checking the Ford dashboard all the time and wondering why it hasn't re-tried yet.

I agree, a week is a long time. They should retry after a 2-3 days but maybe they don't want to clog up their servers with reinstall requests?

I dunno, it’s annoying I can’t just immediately ask it to try again. Like that’s a normal tech thing now

I would prefer that option as well, that way I can make sure my car is ready and in suitable conditions for the update like being plugged in on AC with wifi/cell coverage (if needed)

I have scheduled my updates but one thing I have noticed with this 2.6.0 update is that it's ignoring the update install schedule that I have set.

I have seen with both my father-in-law's car and mine that it seems to try the updates in the late morning/early afternoon instead of the daily schedule I set for 1am.

I keep my setting on automatic download.

Hmm, but in this exact thread we've seen some people with failures retry the following day? Perhaps there is simply no rhyme or reason with Ford.

The scheduling is definitely a mystery. My car received 2.6 on Monday evening. Nothing since. I've read multiple reports of cars receiving updates daily once 2.6 hit. ?‍ ?

Same, looks like we gotta wait a week according to the expiration date on the widget. Unless something else changes on Ford end.

When I spoke to someone at ford they said the expiration date was for the window where the update was available to my car and that it could try any time in that window. I’m not sure how it works after a failure though.

oh really? Crap. If it's not installing after several days, maybe it's possible something is locked again?

You're seeing the same as me. No retry listed. Date of last try on 5/16. I went and set my car to not automatically install so hopefully I'd get the chance to manually tell it a good time versus when I'm in the middle of a bunch of starts and stops. But waiting sucks when so many people in these threads reported near immediate retries.

Just based on checking several people's OTA failures over the last few months, It seems like if you get a failure, and it doesn't retry, it is either because Ford cancelled the deployment, or your car already had that update and it won't try again.

My car spends most of the day parked at the bottom of an underground parking lot that has zero cell signal. If Ford is trying to trigger some sort of update during that time that may need a connection, I'm not entirely surprised it's failing.

Maybe I will try turning off my automatic updates as well and see if it asks me to install.
