Ok so I know it's not good to keep plugging in and unplugging a 240v plug into the socket (I read it here somewhere) Even the electrician who installed the 240v outlet said it could get loose overtime by doing that.

So what If I disconnect and connect from the neck all the time? I am not going to charge 240v everyday. I may use the 120V sometimes.

You're misinterpreting what has been stated across many threads.

Constantly plugging and unplugging from a regular commercial 14-50 receptacle will degrade the receptacle over time (takes a long time). Commercial plugs are also not the best solution for an EV charger when using a 40A+ EVSE, as most receptacles are made for appliances that don't have a constant pull of higher current.

The recommended path forward by many is using an INDUSTRIAL 14-50 outlet, such as a Hubbell, Bryant or Cooper. Industrial plugs are made for much more gruesome environments and can better withstand higher constant loads across the terminals and contacts.

Ok but the second part of that is the question can I keep disconnecting at the neck instead of the socket so I don't get that degredation?

Why do you need to disconnect anyhing except from the car?

I wouldn't, not an electrician but if you discount the plug from the EVSE but leave the plug in the socket, there would be voltage to to the connection points.. seems less safe to me.

I would disconnect from the outlet, before I keep connecting and disconnecting from between the EVSE whip and EVSE module itself.

Not sure I understand your response. Are you saying is it a good idea or bad idea to discount the 240v plug adapter from the EVSE each time (versus removing from outlet or just unplugging the car?). Or are you just a fan of the band Garbage?

Buy a plastic socket and mount it on the wall and put the handle into it. Unplugging it every day because of shock concerns is ridiculous.

I don’t think that’s what he’s talking about. He’s talking about the plug adapter that goes into the body of the mobile charger.

He's trying to disconnect it from electricity for safety. He figures leave the plug to not wear socket out, and disconnect it midway. I am saying disconnect nothing and hang it up.

It's not the same as an extension cord plugged in OP, there is only power going to the end of the plug when the mobile charger verifies it's plugged in where a common extension cord has power going to the Female end as soon as it's plugged in.

The Ford Mobile charger that you plug into your car is kind of like a gate. It contains electronics that sense when the cable has been connected to the car. When this is confirmed, it closes a relay that allows the electricity to flow into your MachE.

You're really not connecting a live plug into your Mach and can't get a shock if your fingers got in the wrong place. The design means the charge plug and cable are not energized when unplugged. When you connect the plug into the vehicle the car will electronically hand shake with the charging station. Once the handshake is made, the relay in the charging station will open, allowing electrons to flow to the car. When you disconnect the plug, the electricity stops flowing through the cable.

We've kept ours plugged into our 220 30 Amp plug that was set up in our garage for a dryer and we leave the Ford Mobile Charger plugged in the whole time and just loop the end around and over a plastic bracket.
You can even get a UL listed Switch box that plugs into the dryer outlet, and has two receptacles, one for say MachE, and one for dryer. It won't let both items be powered on at the same time, if you decide to use your dryer, your Mach E charger no longer hets powered. They are not cheap, but you weigh the cost vs running another breaker and line.

This is like when you’re a kid and you say something in the ear of the first kid and see what comes out on the other end of the room after 15 people mess it up. ?

He wants to switch between 110v and 220 v. Why? I have no idea.

I know I wouldn’t keep switching 110/220 cable at charger while plugged in or not plugged in. I think you’ll eventually have issues with the connection as I don’t think the mobile charger is built well enough to continually do this. It’s tough to pull the cables out and I think eventually it’ll pull something apart. Just my thoughts

Great analogy!
We have only switched to 110 a couple times. It's tight that's for sure!
