I do think it is funny that when it estimates low, we are all quick to discount it as the GOM. But... when we get a high number, that thing is as accurate as an atomic clock! ?

Yup. Often between 350-370.
Of course it’s because the GOM sees me driving at 1 MPH on the 405

Here in Puerto Rico with a warm tropical climate all year round I have achieved 401 miles. I have a 2021 Premium RWD Extended since last December. I drive 50% highway and 50% city.

I'm wondering what the most reasonable and optimal highway speed might be to get the most range - highway meaning no frequent stops/starts from traffic signals/signs. So a speed that you can set the cruise at and get the most range without turning a 300 mile trip into a 12 hour affair.

You might not want to hear this, but the slower you go, the better your range. Driving below the speed limit is unsafe IMO so to get the best range go the speed limit. Not faster. Personally I am willing to sacrifice range to get there faster.

That makes sense. I guess on roads that also post a minimum speed, that could be one to use if you were concerned about making it to the next charging station.

When I make a trip west from here in Idaho, the first charging station is about 240 miles away so I might have to take it easy at least until that first stop.

I guess drive at speed limit or slow lane. Here in Michigan it goes up to 75. I recommend something usually below that. Between 65-75 let’s say avg 70 you get good range given warm weather. Today in the 70s I was averaging 3.0 on freeway. Which is decent at those speeds. But overall as weather is warming up my range is improving quiet a bit.

last 1300 miles on the trip meter are clocked at 3.0m/kWh. It’s only improving though. I was averaging freeway + city driving at 3.7kwh today.

GOM improves as your range improves. So it takes about the last month of average for range. Now at 90% it’s showing me range of 236. This has been the highest so far since I got it in winter.

Based in the experience in my GT, 240 miles is going to be very difficult to do on the highway if you are driving 75+, probably impossible. Definitely impossible in the winter. I get around 2.4 miles/kWh at 80 mph. You might make 240 miles at 70 mph if the weather is good. But it will be close. Make sure your tires are at 41 psi before you start the trip.

Throwing in the usual caveats such as your mileage may vary, literally, my trip on Thursday afternoon saw me average 3.5 miles per kWh in my standard range Select.

Keep mind that the temp was 93 degrees and it was sunny. I also had some wind for coming from the sides for a significant portion of the trip. I drove 202 miles to an EvGo station for my 1st and only charge. When I got to EvGo I had 18% SOC. The speed limit was 70 or 65 in the majority of the spots. I drove 75 in the 70 and 70 in the 65 with the AC set to auto and 72 degrees for the whole 3 hour and 30 min trip.

I was very surprised at how efficient the car was. I was expecting 3.1 miles per kWh based on the range tests I’ve watched.
