I own the GT and am NOT at all pleased. I was when I first got the car but over time it’s starting to become a safety issue where at normal highway speeds I have to constantly look down at gray bars to see if I have enough power to overtake a semi. It’s rare that something like this comes up but the fact that I paid a hige premium for a GT badge. I’m not tracking the car but don’t call it a performance car and charge $15k+ over the regular version and then turn around and say well it’s fast enough in these specific scenarios. What really set me off recently is the fact that the Lightning doesn’t have this issue. That’s just embarrassing for Ford that their icon branded performance car can be beat by their own work truck. How is no one at Ford not upset about this??

Gray bars?
GT has a power meter below and left of the speedometer.

When power is reduced, it’s represented by grey bars. The more reduced, the more bars.

To be fair, he did throw out the bait and you ate it right up. If people don’t want controversial reactions they shouldn’t make controversial statements.

I also have a GTPE. But I fit kinda in the middle of the OP and you.

I’m happy enough that I bought it. And I still hope they open up the 5 second performance thing.
I've had my GTPE since January (ordered 6/23/21) and I find any reason to drive it. I will never drag race it but never had any problems blowing the doors off of anything that 'challenges' me. Truly don't understand all the kerfuffle. Have a great GTPE day!

If this is a spot to discuss first impressions of a new MME GTPE I will add mine. I picked mine up 3 weeks ago and it has exceeded my expectations. My wife loves it in whisper mode because it is such a smooth ride. I love it in unbridled because it is so sporty. It has roller coaster fast acceleration and plenty fast on the highway. I am getting 2.7 mi/kWh because San Diego is warm but 10% city and 90% highway driving. It is a solidly built car, a quiet ride and really fun to drive. BlueCruise is awesome! No complaints.

I second his points. I have a Shadow Black GT that I took delivery on 10/31. It is a fabulous machine. And, if I'm being honest, it still scares the sh*t out me when I punch it off a light. Like J in Men in Black when K guns it in the tunnel.
True story - I had a cat ahead of me at a light to get on a highway ramp to EZ pass lanes on the DC beltway. He was in a Shelby 350 GT and glaring at me in his rear view. I could tell he was planning on teaching me a lesson that the MME doesn't deserve to be in the stable. Sure enough, he peeled-out on the green. By the time he was at the top of the ramp, he was at 90...and I was on his bumper, without even flooring it and in whisper mode. I stayed latched to his bumper past 110 before I let him go. I made my point, and I was in no mood to go to jail over egos and measuring contests.

This vehicle may have 4 doors and look different, but it damn sure deserves a place in the stable.

It's hard to think about performance when you have so many nannies on the car although it handles great in certain situations around the city and you can certainly cruise to 80 very quickly. A long-standing performance in the vehicle is just not there and with the rear wheel coming off the ground when you do any kind of high-speed cornering it reminds me of the days of the golf GT although a well handling car is a little scary. And now with the situation of this capacitor/fuse/whatever heat issue it just goes to show that Ford engineering made promises they couldn't keep it now they figure they can fix it with a software issue one thing I did find out as a Ford cut back on the use of sensors in their cars unlike Tesla that has far more sensors to make the car function much more like a real car instead of it being a nanny to death.

Holy moly - what were you doing to rack up that many bars with 110 miles of range left?!? Smoke dudes off the line 4 or 5 lights in a row? ?

He was probably driving it in sub-zero temps without any pre-conditioning. I've never had that many bars before... even in -10 F here in Minnesota in February.
