It's all speculation. 48,000+ vehicles and 260+/- with problems. Some cars with 20,000+ miles on them traveling on 3,000+ mile long journeys. I'll take my chances with a software fix.

Called my dealer yesterday he said he had not seen anything on the no sale order but would let me know when he does, not holding my breath. He also said he had mine and another MME both in MO. And looking to get them in the next couple weeks.

It's not a no sale order but they aren't allowed to deliver is the problem. You can purchase it, but it sits on the lot until the recall is fixed. So hopefully they get it out right away at the beginning of July so most of us don't actually see a delay.

My sales guy at Mullinax Kissimmee emailed me today and said all the cars are on a recall including mine (no shit) and they don’t know anything more. I might go visit it when it arrives.

Anyone have any idea how long it will take to get from the train depot in Jacksonville to the dealer? For any smart a** in the group, I know the actual driving distance and drive time. ?

There are people who want a new hardware component because they perceive, based on zero information, that a software solution is insufficient. We know for a fact that the conditions of the recall will be met by a software update.
The factory was shut down for a period of close to three weeks around this time. I know, because I was in that build week and the two batches before mine are out and shipped, while mine had no movement until this past Monday. I have as much information as everyone else here, but are we really saying that the production line was halted for multiple weeks for a software fix that can be applied at any dealership? Certainly possible, but seems improbable.

It was probably while they did the root cause investigation, not knowing what the eventual and/or interim fix would be.

Was your MME in group 5940? You ordered the same day I did.

Some cars in that group have nearly reached their destination. Not mine for some reason, but this is the first time I've seen a shutdown suggested.

Edit-- sorry, I didn't realize this was in the 5/16 thread.

Yes, very possible.

I'm still don't understand how, as reports come in over a lengthy period of time, they suddenly decide that they may have a problem.

Would you like the walking time as well, in case the car experiences a HVBJB failure on its way from the train depot? ?

It could have also been that they wanted to minimize as much as possible the ones they'd have to fix after they had left the factory. So they halted production until the software update was ready to go.

I firmly believe that the software update is already ready, the timeline of "sometime in July" is because they have to coordinate getting it to the dealers and making sure that the dealers are all set to smoothly handle the process. I could be wrong on this, but that's my theory. Otherwise why would they so confidently state that they will have a software update that will fix the problem out in July? This to me suggests that it's done and tested and they know it will work.

The NHTSA chronology says "On April 12, 2022, an issue pertaining to high voltage battery main contactor overheating was brought to Ford’s Critical Concern Review Group for review."

What that means is the number of reports tripped their threshold for critical review. It's not like some guy came running in, out of breath and slapped a piece of paper on the table. There was a team documenting and recording this (and likely investigating) all along but critical review wasn't warranted until it hit that threshold. That's just how these systems work.

Makes sense, but... The agitated side of me says: after 1 or 2 reports, do some math to figure out if you may have a problem and make precautionary engineering changes sooner rather than later.

I chatted with the Ford Chat and found out my MME is in Wilmington DE as of yesterday, it is waiting for transport to the dealer, the ETA is 3/7/22-9/7/22. I'm hoping it will come sooner and that the dealer will already have the fix ready for the final preparation.
