Awesome, hope you get the car well ahead of your estimated window! Did you use Norfolk Southern's automated line to track it? I can't get any info using the rail car # I have.

Yep, their system has been pretty consistent updating for me as it passes various points. Ford VVR from this morning still shows it in KC lol.

Great that I’ve made good progress, but of course with the way my luck works I leave for a work trip Tuesday morning. At this point I hope it either shows up to the dealer by Monday so I can get it before my trip, or it’s delayed and doesn’t show up until next weekend. Kind of don’t want it sitting at the dealer while I’m on the west coast, just enough stories of cars being sold from under them (not that I think my dealer would do that).

My car has been shuffled around KC and now has a new rail car number and location, so progress is being made:

Railcar # TTGX255608 (Norfolk Southern Corp ) and location is Ramp 6U, Muncie, KS as of 07/12/2022

wish I could have a rail car # just to track. we ordered around the same time but my delivered is estimated for 8/14-20. I'm in Chicago

I had this same experience with tracking albeit with Canadian Pacific. The VVR still shows the vehicle in KC while CPR shows the car having left Chicago for Detroit.

I get the impression that the VVR (or Ford chat) is like tracking a package with FedEx or something. It gets scanned into a truck at point A, and you don't know anything about it until it's taken off the truck and scanned at a facility at point D. You don't know when the truck passes through points B and C on the way, because you're tracking the package, not the truck. The package itself doesn't get scanned at those points.

So my guess is that its the same way for our cars. Ford can tell you it was scanned onto a train in KC, and then knows nothing until it gets scanned out of the train at whatever destination city. The car itself doesn't get scanned as passing through the intermediate points, and they're just tracking the car. When we get the railcar # we're able to track the railcar itself and get better updates on the travel.

I’m on the same ramp, got a rail car #. Dealer keeps me updated for some reason via txt. They said about 3-4 weeks from there to Chicago. I told them to stop these texting all the time and just let me know when the car is here. I told them I’ll take my own time to come get it just like ford did

Reach out to Ford chat (ford.com/support). They should be able to provide you with your rail car number (assuming its been assigned one).

What happens in East Decatur? Appears mine was unloaded there at 4am 7/13, and that’s it. Would it hop on a different train from there to NJ?

Finally got one but can't figure out how to track it. It has a KCS # and the UP tracking # couldn't find it

Tracking on KCS is non-existent and takes about 10 days to hit KC once underway from the factory (including time at the border for CBP to clear the shipments) - mine sat in a siding at the factory for a few days once loaded on a rail car. Once the vehicle hits KC and is off loaded (hits Richards-Gebaur first and is then trucked to either another rail yard for loading for other places across the US and Canada) or is loaded onto an auto transport for road delivery. Either way, once it hits KC, Ford chat will be able to provide you the new railcar and/or convoy info.

Was your dealer in the VVR able to see an update to the railcar info (so after KCS) or same for Ford chat? Based on what I've seen, KCS only carries the car as far as KC and from there it gets transferred to other rail carriers or auto transport for movements to other parts of the country.

Dealer doesn't even know what rail car # is. Had to get it from Ford Chat. They couldn't find a rail car # when it was in TX or 2 days ago when I checked and they said it was in Kansas. The call today, rep from chat produced the rail car # as KCS 008312
So I have NO idea what's happening. But the car has moved from production into Laredo and now in Kansas City, MO.
ETA is 8/14 - 20 so I guess I'll just be patient and see what happens.

hahahaha boss move. I think I might sprint over there -- I'm that excited. And I sold my car ahead of time - enjoy the car free life - until it arrives. Was your rail car number something with a KCS in front? Mine was KCS 008312.
