A few days back I arrive home and plugged in my Mach-E (L2 charging) so I could charge it for a bit. After it reached ~58% around 11pm I thought it was enough and stopped charging it using the Fordpass app.
Next morning when I was about to unplug the cable I noticed that for some strange reason the charging was ongoing and by that time the battery was at 86%!
My first thought: did I really stopped in FordPass the day before? Then I checked my home power usage historical records and I confirmed that I stopped, and I could also see that the car resumed charging at 6.40am - on its own.

And no, I don't have any departure times set. Zero.

I wonder now if any this already happened to any of my fellow Mach-E owners here.

The car charge log:

I fully believe you. I'm only 2 weeks in and have twice gotten the message that charging started due to departure time. Also, I have my home location set to only charge based on my utility plan, and it chose 10p-2p as the range for now. More than once it has started charging when I plug it in before 10pm, even in the 5-8pm peak.

My conclusion? Fordpass scheduling is not 100% reliable to work with a dumb EVSE. I'm hoping that if I restrict my smart EVSE from midnight to 6am then I can just say "charge when plugged" in Fordpass with no adverse side effects. I realize I'd be giving up on preconditioning with departure times without fiddling with 2 separate apps, but I'm in California and park inside an insulated garage and may not need it.

Stopping charged worked fine. But, if the car hadn't hit the level it was set for that location, which might be the default 100%, hadn't happened. So, whenever it woke up to that fact, maybe by you passing nearby with fob or PaaK, or opening FordPass, or being polled by the servers, it again correct started charging.

If you want to stop charging either reset the limit for that location, or unplug.

This happens to me all the time. Very annoying as I have Tesa Solar with two Powerwalls and this glitch drains my system. I try to unplug to avoid this but occasionally forget.

If you want more control over the car charging, you have 3 options:

1) Unplug.
2) Set the location, with a charge limit, and if you want to stop at a lower number then LOWER the charge limit.
3) Get an INTELLIGENT EVSE like JuiceBox or Chargepoint. The car can ask all it wants to, but if the charger isn't supplying power it won't get it.
