I just picked up a new GTPE. Thanks to Mark for running my VIN it shows the PCM and SOBDMB still have an update.

I brought it to the service department and they kept telling me it was something else as they show the recall was done.

Did they release another update for those modules or is the dealer just wrong and it didn’t update correctly.

Those aren't part of 22S41

It's the BECM and SOBDMC that are 22S41

Anything I need to be concerned about for those?
I don't believe so. If you have the latest GWM module then you should be good for future OTAs and you'll get those eventually.

As has been mentioned many times on this forum, dealers won't install updates just because they are available because no one will reimburse them for the labor. It's completely normal for dealers to only update the necessary modules to complete the order.

Thank you! I was more worried about a failed recall update.

Unfortunately the car was built one week before the 5/25 swap. So guessing old parts.

Todd, you're off your game. That's incorrect, PCM is part of the recall. They're supposed to actually update the PCM first and SOBDMC and BECM follow after. If they do the PCM though, it usually also updates the SOBDM, SOBDMB and ABS modules.

Here is what Mark was nice enough to pull for me. So looks like they did update those but my vin still shows the PCM and SOBDMB as being modules with an update to apply.

You’re in that timeframe when the updates got messed up in the server so you didn’t get the newest recall version. Dealer probably doesn’t know how to handle this, you might have to wait for the OTA to patch it.

Ummm. I believe the recall software itself is only the BECM and SOBDMC. Yes the other ones normally process at the same time. But if the BECM and SOBDMC are both not available to update then the recall should be applied.

In early release of the recall the PCM and SOBDMB weren't available to update so they didn't process with it. I know the TSB says to run the PCM as well but I believe the actual recall is in the other two modules.

The NHTSA recall notice doesn't include the PCM or SOBDMB.

All this being said, from my understanding there's supposed to be an additional 4 power train module updates related to the recall in the future, which will be OTA. But things change all the time at Ford.

Yeah, I think it is just poorly worded if the directions say to start with the PCM update and let it update whatever else comes up. But then the subject line and description don’t mention the PCM.

@Ford Motor Company

Any way to get the dealer to provide the proper update? Seems like the car shouldn’t have been sold if the recall wasn’t applied correctly.

There were new versions of PCM and SOBDMB which were published to FDRS after the 22S41 updates were released.

The latest versions are only available for GT’s. The vehicle in question is a GTPE which was updated on July 8. The new PCM/SOBDMB were released on July 11.

Thank you for the exact dates. Does this mean I can cancel my prescription for Prevagen that Neil prescribed me :)
