Tell your dealer to pound sand. It’s on them to PROVE the dash cam caused whatever issue.

I 100% agree that it's on them to prove the device caused the issue, but they could very easily just say "nah we're not going to work on your car since it has aftermarket stuff on it". They have no obligation to work on your vehicle, dealers are a private business. If we've learned anything from price gouging dealers, they can do whatever they want and the OE won't do anything.

How would this be any different than plugging in a phone charger on a USB connecter? There is no logical reason for this (I am in Canada as well). I would find this a very easily defensible argument if that was ever challenged by a dealer.

Thank you for this I will defiantly take this advice
I usually hold back on things that are misspelled and taken out of context but this did give me a "laugh out loud" moment.

What you actually said is that you are not taking their advice but I am sure you meant that you were going to take their advice.

In any event, I would venture to say you can rest easy with your dash cam installed. ?

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act has absolutely no bearing on this debate. Zero. Laws passed by the United States Congress have no applicability in Canada. The OP is in Canada. What we do here has no legal relevance and is nothing more than an trivia question about their southern neighbor.

A Canadian I once worked with said the US is Canada's butt. Please use the proper nomenclature :p

Canada is like that really nice house in the neighborhood: well-kept lawns, plants and trees all properly trimmed and in good health, house in good repair and paint and with a genuinely nice family living there, with the crack house next door.

Play I just wanted to let people know that if you install – cam into your vehicles, you will void your warranty and coverage to the vehicle. This is what my dealer was, letting me know as a friendly tip.
PS- IM FROM Canada so it might be different for USA people
I live in western Canada and it will not void your warranty. That being said if it is powered incorrectly and causes the 12v battery to drain overnight then that is not a warrantable issue.

Did the dealer followed up with "but for the low price of $2000, we can install a Ford Approved dashcam that is warranty compliant"?
