Many people have made trips thousands of miles long.
But you probably should research and plan well.

I drove last month from Austin to Boston in my 2 weeks old MME, and made it.

If you can avoid any long uphill grades and keep your speed under 70 you probably won’t see the HVBJB issue. Back in May I traversed some mountains in my GT-PE at 72 without issue. YMMV. ??

Use ABRP and PlugShare to plan your trip, along with the apps for the charging solutions you will be using. If you just came off of the freeway, drive at a low speed for a little while to let the HVBJB cool off before charging. Likewise, after charging, let the HVBJB cool off a little before getting into the throttle. Enjoy! ??

Use the website abetterrouteplanner.com as a first step to planning your trip. One word of advice on planning your stops: make sure there is a 2nd charging station in range of your planned charging stop in case your 1st charging station is not working. (plugshare.com is a good website).

I would also make sure you do a little practice run of DC charging nearby at one or two different types of charging networks to make sure you have everything setup properly (and setup any charging accounts that you might need along the way before you start your trip).

But, yes, many people have done very long road trips with little problem.

Yes, ABRP is great for planning long distance trips before you leave.
Also use Ford's navigation - it makes recommendations on the road...
Just have backup charging locations in the event they are down, dead, vandalized, in use, etc...

Said so well above, but I’ll pile on anyway…use ABRP and PlugShare to plan the route ahead of time, make note of where the chargers are along the route with a backup plan or two, and go. You’ll be fine. I found I was very overprepared for a trip from Virginia to Cleveland, OH, but that turned out to be a good thing, as Cleveland was a wasteland for charging within the city limits.

My only extra piece of advice is to 1) watch the amount of charge you’re projected to roll in with and 2) either add a stop or lengthen the last stop to keep some extra in the battery. Do a look with PlugShare around your destination…are there lots of DCFC chargers or at least some Level 2s somewhere you might park for the night? Fine. If not, make sure to have a plan for charging that gets you into town, around town, and back out of town to the same charger with enough juice before you roll in.

I would not even think twice. Did FL to Maine and back with no problem besides food poisoning from eating at Sheetz.

One last note: Use plugshare to check the condition/reliability of the chargers you are planning to stop at.

If you go there will be trouble, if you stay it will be double.....If you dont take it you will regret it the whole time
