I finally had time to take a real road trip in my 2022 GT (AKA Moody). It was awesome as the weather was warm and sunny I used the blue cruise with some hands free going up I-70 all the way to Grand Junction. I stopped in Glenwood Springs to use the EA L3 charger at the Target. It was free so that was a bonus. Took about 15-20 minutes to get back up to 80%. No problems the rest of the way to GJ, the Blue Cruise really took the stress out of driving. Used the hotel L2 Charge Point charger to charge over night. (not sure of the correct adequate but I did get up at 1 AM and moved to a parking spot to free up the charger, probably sat there an extra hour longer than needed). The way home I got to experience Colorado weather heavy rain and snow. Moody was great. Stopped in Vail at an L3 Charge Point in the garage at Lions Head so I was able to be out of the snow while charging. The rest of the drive was great. I look forward to many more road trips and I will plan more to find the chargers along the route as I did get lost trying to find the Target in Glenwood. If I calculated the Miles/kWh correctly I got about 2.9 for the overall trip. Not the down hill back into Denver around 4 miles/kWh.

The Mach-E does so well going up over the Rockies. On our last trip, we got 3.3 miles per kWh from Denver to Glenwood Springs. How was the Glenwood Spring station? They just installed new charging equipment there.

The charging stations at Target were great plus as a bonus they were free. We went into Target and got a coffee and tea at Starbucks and by the time we got back to the cr it was almost back up to 80%. The hardest part was nav was confusing so got a little lost finding Target.

@Mach-E VLOG Have you driven through a storm over the mountains yet? I didn't use blue cruise on the way home due to weather and having not driven the car in bad weather yet. Using it on Saturday really made driving relaxing while yesterday it was more stressful and I am wondering if I overthought it and should have let blue cruise assist with lane centering. The collision warning system did shut down due to the sensors being blocked with snow etc. Just wondering?

We haven't done hardly any driving in the snow. We did hit a major thunderstorm in Utah on our way back and BlueCruise was handling it pretty well. I ended up turning it off and slowing down because the conditions were so bad.

Thats great news. Should be getting my Mach this week (currently in Littleton at rail station and I'm in the Springs) and drive i70 to Breck all several times a month. Looking forward to BC and charging at the Lodge in Breck for free as well.

Side question - did you have 1-pedal active down the mountain or just the 'L' button? Somewhat concerned using 1-pedal and heating up the battery as a result. I've got a build from 8/2022 so no reason to doubt the HVJB installed but ......

I live in CO also and have been up and down Berthoud, Vail, and other major high altitude passes. Mine is 2021 job 2 and no problem keeping 1p driving. No switch to L.

The L button does essentially the same amount of battery regen as 1P. If you're really concerned, you could put the car in neutral and coast, but I really don't recommend that! There was an update for early cars to address a battery overheating issue, and I've not heard of any problems since. I think Patrick and Liv (@Mach-E VLOG) experienced the problem and have since said the fix worked fine for them.

Ok good to know - we do the trip to Breck a dozen times every year either the back way (24 over Hoosier pass) or I70 and didn't want to run into issues.

What was the fix? Didn't that happen recently?

Pretty sure it was a software update. I don't recall the details, as it didn't impact my 2022 car.

I have switched to 1 pedal and never looked back. It was awesome going down the steep twisty turns. I actually felt safer and that I could go a little faster that I normally would.

The downhill regen issue happened to us in May 2021 and there was a software fix. One pedal is great coming down those long stretches. It is fun to watch the range and battery percent go up.
