Are we all feigning disbelief about why it's considered the least reliable? Yes, the article should have been more obvious about why, but the MME had a major recall that forced the car off the market for a period of time. And the "fix" that allowed them to sell it again isn't ... it just warns you when it's going to happen. This doesn't even count software update issues, a 12V battery prone to discharging, etc.

We all know the issues this car has at this point. I'm hopeful my 2022 Job 2 will be less problematic when it shows up, but I can be honest that the first year and a half of this car has been rough.
My GMC Hummer EV had a stop sale placed on it the day after I got it. I have to take into the dealership for a fix because of water getting into the batteries on some vehicles where the pack didn’t get properly sealed.

GM hasn’t even released a fix yet and there is talk that the fix might be replacing the whole battery pack. I would say that is a bigger recall than the Mach E’s problem.

However I can still sell it for $60k-80k over what I paid for it and it is fun to drive.

I’ve also had my Mach E since Feb 2021. I wouldn’t sell it.

Check out this article published in U.S. News on the 14 least reliable new cars in the USA. The MME tops the list!!

However, the article also points out that "you’ll be hard-pressed to find any other glaring faults with this sporty electric crossover".
So glad I got one of the 40/100 cars.

Don't understand why some have issues and others are fine. I experience pretty much none of this, so strange.
Because the software is unreliable.

I’ve also had multiple MAJOR software glitches, but luckily each only happened once.

“volume control fault.” Basically the screen completely unresponsive.

“blind spot detection fault,” cameras not working

“suspension fault.” This one sucked. Mag ride completely stopped working. Car drove Like a 1970s school bus. The shocks completely quit working. I took a video because it was almost funny. Would bounce like 5x after going over a bump.

I do appreciate that you said “pretty much” none of this……

I doubt anyone here is truly “problem free” when it comes to the software in this car. Never had PAAK mess up? Never had the screen not respond right away? Never had XM radio not load? Never had the light issue?

Seems like when every owner has a problem…….. that’s actually highly unusual in the automotive world.

I have to say that this is the first car I have ever owned that has had to go back for recalls.
Same here, and I have had my share of French cars which are typically not known for their reliability, especially re their electrical systems.

Yes, I've had other cars that have gone back for recalls but this car beats the sheer number needed. First Ford I've owned and we'll see what I get in the future.

I had a Citroen C5 and the only recall I ever had was for some A pillar trim which may detach.

Many new cars owned in my day. The total number of problems (most with no problems/recalls) with all of them combined pales when compared to the MME
This is all new to me.
Specific short list:
Nearly a month at dealership to do glass recall and not notified recalls (including BlueCruise)
telematics control unit replacement*
*no OTAs
OTAs without explanation and which disabled settings
PAAK
FordPass
dealership war vs owners/Ford
HVBJB - most disturbing, by far (by the way, if dealer follows Ford SOP, the replacement part can be over-nighted, otherwise can take up to two weeks+)

reliability: HVBJB destroys any dependable reliability

I think my 30k mile review had a low score and generally poor remarks. I created a post about it somewhere on here.

Then I did a 50k mile review and changed my tone a bit. Car scored pretty well and very reliable as far as basic transportation needs are concerned. It has never failed to get me where I needed to be and has always functioned well enough. The poor score items are primarily related to glitchy software and horrible OTA experiences but even then....the car still worked as transportation.

It might be time to start reviewing vehicles in two parts. Transportation and Tech. In the case of the Mach-E, the Transportation aspect can be excellent while the Tech not so much.
Um pretty much this. Luckily poor software is SO fixable if Ford would just make it a priority and get its shit together.

Well so far after five months and 8,000 miles, my MME starts and drives me to where I need to go. Every time.

Ultimately, "reliability" is about not being stranded on the side of the road or not being able to start your car in your own driveway or in the grocery store parking lot or...

?

I’ve had some quirks but I’m resourceful and figure out workarounds or how to fix them or patient and they are fixed in OTA updates, sucks that this isn’t the case for everyone

It seems everyone has a different idea of "reliability". If the definition is that the car gets you from point A to point B, then mine has been 100% reliable over 6,000+ miles and I'm happy for that!

But if the definition includes a higher bar, and we expect all systems that the driver interfaces with to operate as expected, then it's a very different story. And while the most important things continue to work, the user experience (related to "reliability") is important and I'm not satisfied at all. So pick your definition, and then rate the car. I tend to think of reliability holistically, and I tend to agree that it's not a highly reliable car.

Edit:
Here's a test: When something as basic as the headlight control knob manages to fail on you every few days, do you consider that a reliability problem? What about the trip computer?

I'm sorry but I sadly have to agree that the ME is not very reliable at all. Just read these forums. It's obvious. I still like it, but it struggles with consistency.
