I listen to Sirius XM often and CarPlay likes to interrupt about 30 seconds after starting the car which is really annoying.

is there any way to disable this?

The auto switching to it? No. Actually auto connecting, yes.

You can go to your MME in Bluetooth settings and disable CarPlay there, which will just make Bluetooth connect only. Then when you want to connect CarPlay, go to CarPlay on the car’s screen, phone list, your phone and then the CarPlay button.

Nice I’ll try that too

bonus points for the image
Funny … I hate SiriusXM (they’re very annoying in sales by phone calls) and since I turned this feature off the SiriusXM interrupts media connection with phone via Bluetooth. I assume this is exactly what you needed. ?

I've used SiriusXM since I've owned my car, and my wife has it in her car since 2000. I've always heard how intrusive SiriusXM is with phone calls and such. I can say, they have not called us a single time since having a subscription... We get emails from them fairly regularly, but phone calls, ZERO. Wonder if CA did something that prevents them from doing it lol They ban everything else..

Remove a radio from your Sirius account and you'll get calls. And letters.

If you’ve been subscribing the whole time - they have zero reason to call you.

Ya I guess... I had it on my motorcycle for about a year or so, 6 months of it was free if I remember right. I removed it because it was not worth it to me as I used a SENA anyways. They would defiantly send me mail, but I never got calls. /shrug Maybe TMobile blocks their calls..

What does CarPlay do when it interrupts? Does it play a sound? I listen to SXM every time I drive the car, and my phone automatically connects to CarPlay. When CarPlay connects, there's a brief notification banner at the top of the Sync screen that says it's connected, but it doesn't interrupt anything.

If there is anything playing on the iPhone then it takes over the Sync screen. SXM drops and the CarPlay UI appears. This happens in my car all the time now....for at least the past year anyway. It will sometimes cancel my nav and substitute it's own destination.

I use Android and my wife uses Apple. When she gets in the car, the CarPlay tile appears. If I have a navigation route programmed then sometimes her phone will put the CarPlay nav up on the screen with a random destination that it thinks she is on her way to. (Doctor's office, kids house, Sam's Club, home etc). It is really weird because she says she wasn't using her phone nav. ????
It only happens if I happen to have something programmed in the native nav otherwise CarPlay just sits there as a tile and doesn't interfere with Sync.

However, if she plays anything on her phone (clicks on a video that someone sent her etc) then it drops SXM and takes over the screen. It is pretty annoying at times. Now I make sure to ask her to turn off Bluetooth before she gets in the car and everything is fine.

The weird thing is this behavior didn't happen when either of my kids would get in the car. Well, I do see the CarPlay tile appear but they can play their own music or watch whatever on their phone and it doesn't take over my screen unless I want it to.

Been like this for a while now.
The most recent update added the feature where any known (previously paired) iPhone will automatically take priority over my Android and disconnect my phone in favor of theirs. If a call comes in on my phone, I can't answer it via Sync. I can pick up the phone and answer it manually but I can't hear anything or speak to anyone. As best as I can tell, Ford decided to remove the feature that allowed the user to set a preferred phone because I can't find that setting any more in the Sync screen. It used to be there and was Profile specific but now it's gone. ???

Ah, I guess that’s why I don’t experience the problem. I don’t typically have something playing on my phone when I get in the car.
