In CA a rear end is always the other drivers fault unless you brake checked them. Make sure to get checked out if you have any issues. I was rear ended in my old car at about 40ish MPH on the 94. Hardly did any damage to my car, but man it messed up my neck and eye big time.

Note sure if this is applicable to the MME's since they are new and there should not be aftermarket parts. Insurance companies do not like paying for OEM parts (i.e. fenders, bumpers, glass, etc.). You can work with the body shop to get OEM parts but you may have to pay the difference.

My insurance is with Connect via COSTCO, comprehensive with $500 deductible.
The LIABLE other party's insurance is with GEICO.

I have selected a Ford Certified collision center, the GM even has already ordered OEM parts (I just confirmed with him) and the parts in in the Shop. Connect is already OK with this shop, but the shop is NOT a GEICO partner.

In my case, which policy to claim against is better off, easy to deal with - Both repair and medical bills? Thoughts? I do not think GEICO can limit my right for which shop to use.

Your collision deductible should be totally waived ($0) by your ins carrier if the other carrier accepted full responsibility on behalf of their insured driver. You have the right to select a qualified and licensed bodyshop I believe!

You choose your shop, your insurance will pay it, and get reimbursed by GEICO. If your car is done before they get paid you may have to pay your deductible and then get reimbursed by your insurance, but it's likely this is clear cut and the insurance companies will resolve it pretty quickly.

At this point, if it was me I'm only talking to my insurance company and if GEICO is bothering me I'm referring them back to my insurance company to work it out.

This advice is based off of being hit a couple of times, my wife getting hit once, and our experiences with our insurance company, USAA.

You get to choose where you get your car fixed, its the other drivers fault.

#1 thing though, the insurance companies will want to pay the very least amount of money possible. You will likely get some offer from GEICO for some random sum of money. This is there way in getting out from under the claim. Once you sign that check they are no longer liable for anything outside of the car damage.

Insurance companies don't have your back or your interest in mind, even your company. If you have medical issues, get a lawyer.. If the guy is under insured, get a lawyer.. In a rear end case it will cost you nothing. You might just have to browse around for a company that will take a "small" case. Some of them won't take a case where you are not half dead in the hospital lol

It’s a really useful thread, thanks! I’ve just received my car also, and I’m terrified of any accidents because it’s new. I know the insurance companies are very stingy, and I don’t want to have anything to do with them, honestly.
I had a severe accident with my previous car, and it was much worse. The insurance companies could not get a compromise, and neither of them wanted to reimburse the costs. I had to hire a car accident lawyer from https://puschnguyen.com/houston-car-accident-lawyer/ to make them pay me. It was such a headache. The car was repaired, but I had to drop the price a lot when I decided to sell it just because it’s been in an accident.

Happy Thanksgiving! Quick updates -- the repairs were turned out to be quoted at $4500 ish. The repair shop has postponed TWICE on the completion dates claiming Ford sent them the wrong bumpers(parts) for different trims. New exp. completion date is Nov. 28.

After another delay, MME fixed, got it back on Friday 12/2/22. The originally promised 1 week work turned out to be 3 weeks! This was just replacing the bumper (upper and lower). Bodyshop claimed Ford sent them the wrong parts twice? Is that possible?
