There is a button on the hatch, can your kids not press that to get their bags...? Also, if you have the latest updates, putting your car in park and pressing the "car" menu button instantly goes to access so it should be 2 presses now.
Great thank you GT expert limited to 5 seconds of full acceleration and quite possibly no kids. The issue is the switch to the hatch should NOT be hidden. Lined up in a school drop off pick up line is a fast efficient process and fiddling for an extra few seconds before the slow motorized hatch is even activated wastes valuable time that none of our other cars require. Stop, put in park, press car icon (from CarPlay screen), press access, press hatch...and wait. All the other soccer moms are still rolling while their hatches are going up, but this is only a $50,000 car so I'll keep most of my Mach-e expectations in check. Kids got sick of waiting for this slow sequence, don't Balme them.

Sounds like youā€™d be a good candidate for adding a physical button.

Lol, what's your problem? I didn't design the car, I just let you know of another solution and that the access menu is more accessible. They can't OTA a physical button... they will hopefully add one that's always accessible at the top, but right now you'd put it in park and press the car icon then the hatch, no need to press access, too. I get neither works for you, but I'm just telling you what's there.

And no, I do have kids and my wife's Volkswagen Atlas also requires the car to be in park then press the physical button, then it slowly opens. Weird, it has one less button press then the MME! Or you can press the button on the outside of the hatch. That's pretty cool these other parents have cars that allow you to open the hatch without the car being in park, I didn't know that was a thing.

I guess I get a bit defensive when the most obvious is pointed out like I'm not aware of that after some 11,000 miles. While there is NO solution to the Mach-e Thermal bottle neck issue, there is to many of the virtual switching improvement requests, but we get stupid graphics and more bugs.

There is plenty of empty real estate to put a Hatch Release Icon at the top of the Home Screen as many of us have requested for years now. And not changing our habits from the last 30 plus years of hatch release efforst to conform to Fords programming deficiencies. I get the safety of the car being in park to release.

I agree, so I did this:

I think that the UI needs some customization capabilities to please everyone. I personally would replace the AC button on the main screen with E-Heat (unless I could have both) and put the camera button somewhere at the top bar. Probably others have different expectations so it will never be good enough until everyone can customize it the way they want.
I think it is highly unlikely that Ford would ever allow customization of the controls on the home screen. It's true that you can't please everyone, but I think a LOT of people would be pleased with one-tap access to the cams and trunk on the home screen. They're easily the top two most popular requests I've seen for the home screen.

OK. you said you didn't design the car....but here you are photoshopping away? Too funny. That would have made too much sense. Lol. If only....

Can you also move the hazard flasher button away from where my son leans his arm and triggers it several times a week?

I get a new platform, but for Ford to bungle this kind of stuff given how mainstream the design language is in the industry tells me they are struggling for talent.

Not Photoshop, that is a physical button. It comes from an Explorer switch assembly. It is my second favorite modification. My most favorite is the tow hitch I added so I could mount my bike rack.

Here is a link to the thread if you are interested in doing the mod yourself.

I really wish Ford would stop messing around with all this volume control knob-focused UI development until they implement the remote frunk release. This is getting to be absurd.

Simple solution to that which requires no expensive re-engineering on Fordā€™s part. Tell your son that he will be sitting in the back seat until he learns not to fiddle with the hazards. If heā€™s in the front seat and fiddles with the hazards, then itā€™s off to the back seat for a month. After the one month learning period, he gets to try the front seat again. If heā€™s still fiddling with the hazards, then itā€™s off to the back seat for 2 months. If, after that learning period, he fails, itā€™s off to the back seat for 4 months, and so on. You can teach him exponential growth at the same time šŸ˜‰

Camera button. Useless since Ford wouldnā€™t sell me the cameras. šŸ¤ŖšŸ©
Ford would most certainly sell you the cameras. You chose not to purchase the model with cameras. Something about how much additional weight a glass roof adds to a 4,500 on car, if I recall? šŸ˜€šŸ˜€šŸ˜€šŸ˜€

I chose to purchase a model for which the cameras were available, the GT-Performance Edition. Ford set an options package that made an option I would not live with (the glass roof) mandatory when ordering the cameras. They therefore would not sell me the cameras. I even asked my dealer to try to push them through. No dice. I would have paid them the extra $$, but their mandatory options bundling prevented it. They should have just listed the pair of options as a single option since they had no intention of selling them separately. I wouldnā€™t have even tried to get the cameras if they had done that. šŸ¤ŖšŸ©

Ah yes those obvious simple solutions... I could taser him every time it happens, I could just cover it with duct tape, or glue it in place, or cut the wires... He's 6ft and his sister is in the back but I hear you. These quirks stand out as most every car I've owned, some 65 plus, I've never had a Hazard Flasher switch placed in the most active zone, the console other than the Ferrari Mondial that broke down monthly. I get window controls, Media, trans & suspension controls, etc... It just appears to be poor placement design and I want Ford to register at least one opinion it is in the way.

Sigh. I do sympathize but I also understand the other side as well. Sadly, we have not yet reached the level of production sophistication where totally bespoke vehicles can be produced at mass market prices šŸ˜¢

I should point out that, as a single person with no children, Iā€™m VERY good at coming up with idealistic solutions for problems with children that are totally impractical šŸ˜€
I was totally kidding with my response šŸ˜€
Just be glad itā€™s not something like the traction control switch or the stability control (Iā€™ve seen those on the console where the Mustang Mach eā€™s hazard flasher switch is)
