BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Rail Tracking

it seems that ford has done something about this, but only for cars that were produced in the last couple of weeks. someone with a 10/31 (or maybe it was 11/7) build week found out from their dealer that cars destined for CA are now going thru nogales, mexico and headed to riverside, ca.

i was just able to find the final leg carrier for my car, and they are contracted to pick up the car from a BNSF rail yard in richmond, ca. so it must be that for norcal deliveries, the cars will continue from riverside to richmond by rail.

CSX has no status for my railcar number, so i guess that means it must be on a BNSF train, which all makes sense as the richmond depot is a BNSF facility. and it seems that (given the first post of this thread) that it is impossible for mere mortals to track BNSF traincars. on the other hand the format doesn't seem like a BNSF number (it is AOK 501589 vs. a TTGX number)

i know this doesn't help you as your shipment predates this new path, but it does seem like ford realized what has been happening with shipments to CA is just not working.

Glean from this what you find useful: my car arrived in Richmond on 11/14 from Ramp 6R in MO/KS (shipped date 9/24), through Barstow, via a railcar with prefix "BNSF". The railcar # (BNSF301522) was obtained from Ford Chat; a day later the railcar had already passed through Mojave, CA, on its way to Richmond. As of today it is "pending pick-up" in Richmond, according to United Road's website/tracker.

@emersonsdad informed me of the railcar's location/progress once it left Ramp 6R. This man is truly selfless.

The railcar prefix (ttgx, Bnsf, aok, etc.) won’t tell you anything about which rail carrier it’s traveling on. All rail carriers carry all the rail cars even if they are owned by a specific rail carrier.

Saw that purported change in routing, but 2nd hand report, so far. You're right, for me, it would only be confirmation that something is really wrong with the southwest deliveries.

true, we have no idea what is really going on. i guess if you could track the cars the way a ford dealer can it might be clear that the route has changed. time will tell.

Sadly, in my case, Ford has not provided any update, chat or dealer, since 9/27, 51 days ago. No rail car number, only the shifting quicksand of unreliable delivery ETAs.

ordered 12/7/21 -->built 9/13/22--> shipped 9/16/22--> arrived Ramp 6R 9/27/22 NO UPDATES since then.

it seems that maybe ford lied about this (surprise, surprise), at least one person whose car was supposed to go thru nogales shows their car going thru texas, that is, the old rail route.

Just a heads up for everyone, I was able to get limited tracking information for BNSF through the CSX line. The information is limited to when it was "released to customer BNSF" when it was at ramp 6M and when it was "placed at customer" in Alliance, TX. FYI, its easier to type in the letter then use their horrible voice recognition system. It could never pick up the second T in the rail car #.

Directions for calling CSX (for BNSF using dial pad):

1. Call CSX at: 1-800-235-2352
2. The first voice prompt: enter 1# (for location)
3. Enter the letter code on dial pad followed by # (voice recognition is horrible)
   TTGX would be: 81814192 #
4. Enter the number part of you rail car ID followed by #
5. Say "done"

I tried that but it picked up TTGW instead of TTGX using the number pad. Oh well, it should be relatively close. Target date was Dec 3-9 and that’s what chat said too.

same rail car number but the estimates have changed to 12/28-1/3. Any updates at your end?
