Is there any link to battery usage with these diff modes? Or is it just for the driver feel? (Not sure if I felt any difference!)

Unbridled 1 Pedal is what I use mostly. Once snow started to stick, I felt better in Whisper 1 Pedal. The only link to battery usage is which mode makes you want to floor it. Try driving at around 35 mph in Whisper with your foot on the accelerator, switch into Unbridled and you will "Feel" the car get a bit more savage.

That’ll probably be one of Ford’s changes next year along with Whoosper and Enrage.
They really want to tackle Syncs biggest weak spot, grammar.
Next up, redesigning the heated seat icon for the 10th time.

In theory, no. But it impacts regenerative braking which, depending on your driving style, can impact efficiency. For example, if you're one of those people that comes up quick to a stop and then slams the brakes, you're losing a lot of efficiency and would probably benefit from the aggressive regenerative braking setting of Unbridled. If you feather the brakes on your own then the other modes should be fine.

It's a pity that Ford locked the energy usage bar to the GT models; with my Leaf (and even my Pacifica Hybrid) you can see how much energy you're using and also getting back. I've generally favored higher regenerative braking settings and got used to feathering the accelerator when needing to coast. Since I've "trained" on other vehicles I feel pretty good about how I'm functioning with my Mach-E, but it would be nice to have that real-time visual feedback.

I have started using single pedal operation..does that change anything?

In the warmer weather I tend to stick with unbridled since I enjoy the driving more. In cooler weather I have switched to Engaged since I tend to drive with the heat on (I hate the cold) and its easier to restrain the need to drive more spirited.
Oh and I do not like one pedal driving, to me its not what "Driving" a car should be.

unbridled 1-p is what driving a BEV *should* be.... Enjoy the torque, and then capture all the regen braking energy you can rather than throw it away as heat!

make it a challenge to see if you can drive without ever touching the brake pedal.... ;)

I love 1PD, and it might help you capture a little more energy back if you were previously a "fly up to the light and then mash on the brakes" kind of person which recovers less energy than a nice slow deceleration.

The difference is in the driving style, not the mode. If you take six seconds to go from 0 to 60 in Unbridled, Engage, or Whisper, you're using the same amount of energy; you're just pushing the pedal to a different depth to get there. Similarly, if you smash the pedal to the floor instantly in all three modes, you're using the same amount of power in doing so. It's all in how you drive it, not which mode you choose.

Has Ford changed software yet to allow for adjustable levels of 1PD ?

I ask because where I drive (urban bumper to bumper) in my Lightning, 1PD is very harsh and very abrupt. 1PD lurches as I have to cover the brakes every few yards.

When I tried for a few days, my wife says 1PD makes her nauseous because of the constant lurching.

I have it turned off and use normal mode which is coasting regen which I much prefer driving in urban Los Angeles.

Sport mode is an in-between regen which I use for high speed / no traffic conditions and has moderate regen.

What is the equivalent mode the MME uses that has coasting regen and not sport or 1PD mode ?

you can add your own display of actual kW output/regen 'realtime'....
I find the display of actual kW to be a great 'brake coach'. I also display actual kWhr remaining rather than % or relying on the GOM range estimate.

- get a BT ODB2 reader like Viecar unit for $25
- install CarScanner phone app
- create custom 'dashboard' to display whichever available sensor data you want
- dash-mount your phone between regular display and center console for easy viewing.
