The concerns have nothing to do with new EVs.
Only with Ford's unacceptable position towards repairing the flaws.

I would LOVE to get BEV performance, with old-school simplicity, if it were available....
Check our EV West, as well as Manx EV, just two companies offering BEV vehicles (EV west sells on occasion) as well as numerous other new companies electrifying older muscle cars. Oh and I have a deposit down on a Manx EV!

  • The Mach E is a "sherman tank". Our fender bender "destroyed" the other car because the Mach E is so heavy.
Yes, the Mach E is heavy, as is the case with all EVs with any useful range battery.
If you destroyed another car, then that was not a fender bender.

Exactly this ^^^

There's a big difference when it's a one off lemon vs a major issue affecting all vehicles. You can literally call Ford and ask them to start the lemon law process and they will. It's that easy.

Going to the media, getting attorneys involved etc is a bit over top. Helping people make informed decisions via feedback and experience is one thing, but telling people how to spend there money is... Nah...

Off I go to sell my Ford - glad I read this thread. (S)
Ah dang I was gonna sell mine first

Why should I never buy a ford again? You had a bad experience so I understand why you wouldn't, but why should your experience dictate what I purchase in the future?

yes, I am familiar with EVwest.... too expensive for my blood since they went to using AC motors, and they tend to focus on commissioned conversions of expensive classics to start with.

regardless... getting way off topic for this thread.

I'm sorry the OP has had a rough ride with his MME.... but it sounds to me like the majority of the delays and non-fixes have been because of an under-trained Dealership. I wonder if they signed up to continue as an EV shop? I also wonder why the OP has not sought out a 'better' dealership.

Very true. It’s the one star Amazon review syndrome. So much drama.

Unfortunately I think I’m in the same boat. We’ve owned a few Fords over the years and the constant recalls are a PITA. Our Mach-E experience has put the final nail in the coffin for us. More and more I regret selling my 4Runner (which was rock solid) and using the cash to buy this Mach-E. If my wife didn’t adore it so much I’d have sold it by now. Our Honda Odyssey has been pulling double duty and again, another rock solid car.
My sister and I have been eyeballing the BMW i4 as it will likely replace her own Mach-E. Ford has had 6 months to fix our grievances aside from the numerous recalls. We may very well keep it for my wife’s sake but it’ll be the last Ford.

So I had my Chevy bolt lemon lawd after a bunch of work. I had it used. Only for a year and for 6 months with a recall issue that was bad as a whole for the company.

Your current story sounds like a bit of an over reaction. The car market now is different. Loaners are hard for dealers to give (just no inventory). The supply chain for parts is also terrible. Service departments are under staffed.

I had my high voltage recall. My customer service rep from Ford corporate was slower but kind. My car was gone longer than I was expecting. They couldn't get the part and on top of that I was the first for my dealer to do this repair. They only did the work when the Ford engineer was there. This is new tech. Expect guys who have worked on ice cars for the last few decades to need time and help. It's a new skill

Bummer!

My experience with the Mach E, and Ford has been great! The only issue I've had is when my charger went into "limp mode" and was charging at a reduced rate because it sensed it was overheating. I called Ford, took a couple of days to get assigned a case manager, but when I did she was fantastic. I went through the steps they requested which took a couple of weeks because of dealer scheduling and such. Ultimately they sent me a brand new charger and gave me an additional 75k mile Ford Protection Plan for the hassle!

I had an issue, they took care of it quickly and fairly.

Late to the party and didn't pour through 5 pages of thread, but what is this about Ford's no loaner policy? I bought my MME in July of 21 and have had the car in to my shop a few times. Once was for repairing/replacing the cargo area supports after mine broke. Once for a blown speaker and currently to address the roof and windshield recall. My dealership has provided me a rental vehicle from Enterprise each time. I'm shocked that people aren't getting loaners for warranty or recall work.

Its not a Ford policy, just some dealers do not have the inventory to supply a loaner or are not near a Ford authorized rental establishment.
Nowadays shopping for a new car is not just make and model, but history of the dealership as well. I love my local Ford dealership and they have always treated me fairly but when we bought my wifes Nissan Leaf from a Nissan dealership, it was more like "here's the keys, its parked outside" attitude.
As mentioned all dealers are NOT created equal

Some of you may remember my other thread regarding our latest critical failure, as well as the six other times our Mach-E has been in the dealership due to recalls and other critical failures.

To recap, my Mach-E received the infamous "Stop Safely Now" message (12V Battery Bricked) and had to get it towed. It has been at the dealership for two weeks now with no movement, figuratively or literally.

An official case has been opened with Ford and we have not heard from our Case Specialist after countless emails, texts and voicemails. Our service advisor at the dealership has also tried contacting the Case Specialist numerous times with zero success. We were expecting to hear from her by Tuesday, 12/6...didn't happen. We chatted and spoke to another specialist on 12/7 and they said that our Case Specialist had it scheduled on her calendar to call us by EOD on 12/7. Also didn't happen. One more time (AAAAAAARRGGHHH!!!) we contacted a specialist through the online chat feature on 12/8, only to be told we would FOR SURE be contacted by our Case Specialist no later than 12/10. You already know what happened, right? Yep, she never called. This is honestly insane.

Our family and friends keep reminding us that we are being held hostage by Ford. And we completely agree. Not only is the Mach-E out of our possession, but it is completely inoperable. There's literally no ETA on next steps, due to the global battery and chip shortage. So, what does that mean? Well, it means we are simply stuck paying for a premium electric vehicle we don't even have. And because of Ford's no loaner policy, my family now has to share my husband's car, which is not only causing issues with getting to and from work, but more importantly issues with our special needs child's daily transportation to and from school.

We've spoken to two lawyers about pursuing Texas Lemon Law, as well as damages incurred. The major issue with this path of action is the time it takes for a case like this to run its course.

In addition, we recently shared this story with several major news outlets — all of whom find our situation appalling. But not just our situation: every Mach-E owner, former or present. Ford's lack of ownership for those consumers out there who are suffering and plagued by the Mach-E's many failures must come to light. We must get them to start taking responsibility and doing the right thing: getting consumers out of these vehicles and back on their feet. I know there's a class action lawsuit regarding the sudden and total loss of power, but it seems like there needs to be one for this "Stop Safely Now/12V Battery" failure.

We know many of you have been through similar or worse with the Mach-E, so we are open to hearing any suggestions.

At this point, ALL WE WANT is for Ford to take accountability through a manufacturer buyback that zeroes out our loan, so that we can start over and leave this nightmare in the rear view. Because everything we are going through, every minute of every day, is irrevocably unacceptable.
I see you're in Frisco. What dealership are using?
