I am 5 months into using my Extended warranty (cost $1600), it has already save me $1,000. This is not the old days of extended warranties, I would be more surprised to find anyone who hasnt saved money with one.
On the other hand, I've saved $1600 + tax by not buying an extended warranty for my 2022 that is now out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. To each their own, but warranty companies make money or they wouldn't be in business. My MME hasn't needed anything yet that wasn't covered by recall (HVBJB), and that would have been covered by the factory 8-year 100,000-mile warranty anyway.

To be fair, I had to buy a few of the frunk cover clips for $4 each when the cavern behind the frunk eats them.

Personally, I’d be leery of any warranty that wasn’t Ford’s.

That said, an extended warranty these days (especially Ford PremiumCare ESP) is a nice hedge against tariffs. Your costs are fixed and long sunk, but Ford’s costs to import replacement parts from Mexico continue to rise.

I bookmarked this post with a note to come back in 2 years and check in. We can then start a poll. to see if that old adage about warranties is still true

Who did you purchase your warranty through? And that’s exactly what I needed to hear. I’m going to go on and get it. Thank you.
I got this at the dealer (Ford Protect Plan) when I bought my car. It was obviously cheaper to buy it then, and I negotiated a higher milage than normal when getting it.

All it will take is one electronic module replacement to eat up that $1600. I know this because the Phoenix heat has destroyed two different modules in my car.

Exactly. And to be clear, my other car is a 2020 Chevy Bolt premier, has 6 cameras, 360 parking, all the safety. I am not buying an extended warranty on that car because in general I think warranties are pointless.

The Mach-e is $100k (remember how much Ford was losing at that start on these) car that Ford packed every bit of new tech into, so I am anticipating more trouble down the road, and possibly many repairs.

Also if a camera dies on my Bolt down the road, oh well, its our grocery getter. If a camera fails on our primary car I want it back working.

I have, quite literally, purchased a new car on the savings and returns on investment from not buying extended warranties, gap insurance, etc. Every time a salesperson asks me to buy an extended warranty for anything, I put that money in my investment accounts instead.
