Yes, I am aware of the feathering light foot on the accelerator but where I drive, there are idiots that jump in front and my natural instinct is to jump on the brakes.

Can't rely on 1PD to stop in time for these idiots I drive everyday...
If that's the case everyone needs to get on their brakes as backup and reflexes take over.

It's ok to use the brakes. It's. Is backup for me.

If I'm taking a long 300 mile highway trip, would it be most efficient to drive in Whisper mode?
In theory it should make no difference. With a higher regen mode on, you'll slow down faster when you let off the pedal on turns and dips and stuff, but you get almost all of thet back in the form of regen power being generated. So pretty much a wash (just a teeny-tiny loss in the exchange vs coasting, which isn't really coasting anyway since the motors are always engaged).

And if you use cruise control, it matters even less as it tends to more gradually react than a human.

I have around 6500 miles and tested all 3 modes, there is very little difference between them when it comes to efficiency. Now with that said, I use whisper mode 95% of the time. I find whisper mode much smoother and enjoyable when using BlueCuise and us it daily on my to and from work. Now when I want to have fun I put it in unbridled.
