Experimenting with my new 23 MME: Lane Change Assist appears on my Sync Screen (under Adaptive Cruise Control screen area). Toggle it on. Here is how it works: On highway, put on turn signal, the car then tells you when it is safe to change lanes and begins to move car into the lane you signaled. As this happens you will see a blue line appear with curve showing car moving into the other lane. Then when it gets there, you turn off the turn signal. All done hands free. Pretty cool new feature. If you are coming up on slower traffic, it will tell you/suggest to you that a lane change to go around them is possible. Just activate your turn signal and car will do the rest hands free.

It even works when only the blue bubble is active, without bluecruise being active.

Having owned a few Tesla vehicles that had this feature, I'm super stoked to get this. update. You list this in a '21 MME so that sounds promising that the update for this rolls out to any BlueCruise enabled MME? Can't wait!!!!

I was hoping for the car to base the decision to change lanes on the speed set in CC (I think that is how Super Cruise does it?). But that may be a whole other level of autonomy we are just not at yet. At least with this, you don't have to disengage BC to change lanes. Still quite cool.

Having a hard time seeing how this would be a helpful thing but keeping an open mind anyway. So, the car tells you when it is safe and then does it on it's own? So that is basically just it's way of communicating that it's about to make the lane change and you have the opportunity to abort (if there is some hazard the car isn't aware of)? That sounds helpful.

I do like the idea that it will suggest a lane change if we are behind slower traffic. That could be pretty cool.

Will it always pass or lane change to the left or does it sometimes want to move over to the right hand lane? If you have navigation set, does it make lane changes to get over to the exit lane?

What about when traffic is coming up at a very fast closing speeds? Some people around here drive 15-20 miles over the posted limit so a lane change right in front of those people might be a problem at times.....

Right, the MME senses the car coming up in front of you is going slower, so the MME screen lets you know if a lane change can be made to go around them without reducing your speed on the highway.

Yes, the car tells you when it is safe (according to the car) but you make the decision to activate your turn signal, then the car begins to move over. If you don't deploy your turn signal, the car stays in the lane and just slows down as it approaches slower traffic. Not sure about passing on the right; Since you have to put on your turn signal to make the pass --- I'll have to try that out.

I'm loving it in my 23 also. To add, you don't have to fully engage the turn signal. You can use the "bump" feature (which flashes the signal 3 times when not in bluecruise) to start the lane change and it will keep the signal flashing until the lane change is complete, then turn off the signal automatically.

Lane change assist also works in both hands on and hands free modes.

I've also found that it doesn't work that well in heavier traffic as it is a bit too conservative, but I suppose it has to be for safety so I'm ok with that.

This should be coming to 2022s and 2021s in early 2023.

I don't have a link, but yes, I believe they did. It was discussed a month or two on the forum.
I seem to remember the discussion being about how Ford was careful not to say that. I personally think that it will come to older models eventually, but I must have missed that announcement.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t, I think they are probably waiting for a way to charge extra for it for BC 1.0 owners
