Having a hard time seeing how this would be a helpful thing...
Ditto.
I do like the idea that it will suggest a lane change if we are behind slower traffic. That could be pretty cool.
Like a robot back-seat driver? This sounds aggressively annoying. If they really want to perfect the technology, I recommend they have the robot announce the lane change suggestion using the driver's spouse's whiniest nagging voice.

I assume that while it works with Adaptive Cruise (in addition to BlueCruise), this feature will not be available in cars that do not have BC. Does everyone agree this is correct? Seems like lane change would need all the sensors required for BC.

Experimenting with my new 23 MME: Lane Change Assist appears on my Sync Screen (under Adaptive Cruise Control screen area). Toggle it on. Here is how it works: On highway, put on turn signal, the car then tells you when it is safe to change lanes and begins to move car into the lane you signaled. As this happens you will see a blue line appear with curve showing car moving into the other lane. Then when it gets there, you turn off the turn signal. All done hands free. Pretty cool new feature. If you are coming up on slower traffic, it will tell you/suggest to you that a lane change to go around them is possible. Just activate your turn signal and car will do the rest hands free.

It even works when only the blue bubble is active, without bluecruise being active.
Video please, so I really cement my jealousy!!!

Yes, it's part of BlueCruise 1.2.

Has Ford said that?
Actually yes, they did, way back when the vehicle was launched, they touted this as a future feature. I expect to receive it before my frunk release to be honest.

In early 2023? I don't remember them saying that. And if they did, that would translate to 2024 or later in Ford time.

Does the '23 have any additional cameras/sensors over its predecessors for this to work? Or is this strictly a software lock?

I wonder if there is any major hardware differences between 21 job 1s and 2023?

As with most things, I don't think Ford has confirmed this... but as far as we know there's no hardware difference between the 23s and prior models with respect to BC. It is widely believed that BC 1.2 will eventually push to the 21s and 22s but, again, Ford has never expressly and definitively confirmed this. Keep in mind, the 22s rolled out of the factory with BC for nearly 6 months before it was finally made available to the 21s.

I'm a little dubious as to the value of "automatic lane changes" that aren't really automatic. I suppose it would be helpful for the car to check your blind spot for you, and also more seamlessly reengage BC after switching lanes. (As things currently stand, it is sometimes necessary to give the wheel a little "wiggle" after the lane change to get BC to reengage, for whatever reason.)

It would be great to have a chance to try this before deciding whether to re-up for paid BC (as a '21 Build 1 buyer, I got the first year free). As things currently stand, I'm undecided.
