Eyes camera couldn’t see my eyes thru my dark glasses

Using Lane following this afternoon during an unusual sunny day, the camera couldn’t see my eyes thru my dark glasses. Keep saying “Keep eyes on the road’”several times and then discontinued lane following (now called Blue Cruise).

Sometimes it has trouble seeing through reflective sunglasses. Also if you’re squinting a little it might think your eyes are closed.

Wasn't there one guy who called out their Mach E for being racist? Kept yelling at him to open his eyes, but he's Asian and his eyes were open? Shame on you, Mach E eye detection system.

Btw, I gave it a try with sunglasses and it yelled at me to pay attention then told me to take control.

Thats weird because I’ve noticed when I wear sunglasses it’s not as nitpicky as it usually is. For instance, I usually lean my head back a bit while driving and it thinks my eyes are closed even though they’re not. But when I wear sunglasses and lean my head back I never get alerts.

Maybe it depends on the sunglasses ???

It depends on the angle of the sun and reflections coming off the glasses. It happens sometimes.

Yes, this is very common. Highly reflective/dark sunglasses + infrared sensors = not going to work properly.

Ford needs to tweak this a bit. I grab my tumbler to take a drink, and no sooner do I raise it to my lips...

I wear glasses (nothing dark) but it is obviously having greater difficulty tracking the eyes of anyone with glasses on.

Avoid metallic coatings on sunglasses which block IR. Also, try to wear glasses or sunglasses with an antireflective (AR) coating. That will help reduce reflections and glare so the camera can see your eyeballs better. Bifocals or progressive lenses can also be an issue since it distorts your eyeballs. Wearing single vision lenses for driving is best. You may need to go to the eye doctor and get a dedicated pair of driving glasses that are single vision and antireflective, possibly tinted or with a sunglasses clip.

Without sunglasses, I tend to squint - with sunglasses I can keep my eyes wider open.

It’s definitely not just squinting because I’ve also started wearing sunglasses at night / late evening sometimes when I don’t need them at all just so BlueCruise will let me put my head back without throwing a fit
