Please don’t lecture me on factory reset ? I know about it yes. I’ve done it hundreds of times since owning the vehicle. I paid $63000 for the car and I shouldn’t have to do that.
You're right, we shouldn't have to do that, but software is software. I had to do a factory reset multiple times for my 2019 Honda Insight to clear up CarPlay problems, general freezes, etc... As we cram more requirements in because consumers want them, the systems try to be "everything to everyone" and problems are bound to occur. Frustrating, and some definitely do it better, but not surprising.

Actually, like I said, it is surprising. Ford shouldn't be touting OTA and then not delivering fixes in a timely manner. You're right, software is software. But again, Ford has the engineers to resolve issues in a couple weeks.

I will take this to my grave... when you build a car around SOFWTARE, it has to be DAMN GOOD.

This isn't hard.

Ok then go work for Ford
Don't defend them. They are a multi billion dollar company. They need to get their head in the software game. I love my job, also in IT, and I would never leave it to work for a corporation such as Ford, where you're just a number and not a name.

They definitely have tons of room for improvement. I agree it SHOULD be better, but it IS hard (if it's not simple, and what we have access to in our cars isn't simple...) For Ford, this is also a HUGE cultural shift. I'm not making excuses for them, but I definitely went into Mach-E ownership knowing that there would be many bumps in the road (pun intended) with the software. As others have noted, even software companies that build cars to run it in have many issues with the software.

Sure. But we're going on two years. Not including initial development. I'm not saying revolutionize the system in that time. I'm saying, "Less YouTube and other media apps and games, more focus on fixing bugs". That's not much to ask for, I don't think. New companies like Lucid and Rivian have a much better cadence.

Again, I'm holding out for 4.1.2 (I'm in EA and still haven't received it). I HOPE it is a big improvement. But I have reason to be skeptical.

You work in IT and don't know about different groups write different parts of the software? It's a first-gen product, I think they've done a really great job, and like another poster said, there's gonna be bumps along the way. Like I just had to fiddle with my fuse box this morning to reset the TCU, which is annoying AF, but I work with tech a lot and I just know sometimes it's a pain in the ass. I come into these situations resourceful and less like a victim, and I'm really patient with tech as well.

As far as OTA, all my quirks since I bought my car have been fixed OTA, sure there's some tiny bugs that made it in, but nothing debilitating and I can usually resolve any issue I have fairly quickly.

Also can we appreciate the fact that 2 year old vehicles are getting an entire UI overhaul? That's awesome.

Same here. 18 months and *50,000* miles in, still at least a dozen unresolved "day one" issues, new update issues are getting significantly more annoying. I just cancelled SiriusXM because I'm sick of reprogramming 30 fricking presets every week -- and even the programming of presets doesn't work right.
So, I’m not the only one with the Sirius preset issue. I‘m going to try CSP 22B10 soon. I was told this addresses the preset issue. We’ll see?

That's just for a new key fob, that won't fix the issue. I'm pretty sure the Sirius preset issue is due to the current bug where sync gets stuck on a guest profile. If you do a sync screen reset, they should come back when you are able to select the correct drive profile.

I agree 500% with "Less YouTube and other media apps and games, more focus on fixing bugs." Those are blatant concessions to external business partners at the expense of serving the immediate needs of the (hopefully) loyal customers who've bought the cars. I think it's shortsighted, but it's also a sticky situation. Big business sucks.

Um, this IS hard. You’re not building software for a product that’s thrown away after a new years, or that a failure during routine use is just “an inconvenience”.

My profile was good but the XM presets changed anyway.

They brought in a big software guy from Apple a long time ago. He hasn't improved them to the level he should have by now. this new layout based on pictures and what heard is more a incremental improvement and change not transformational change. They still don't have all cars running same software Job 1 versus Job 2 and etc. With 28,000 cars out now they should have this down better than this especially given how high up the Apple guy was at Apple.
