Happened while on the freeway of all places. Noticed I was barely able to keep up with the flow of traffic due to the significant power reduction. Really terrifying to be honest trying to get to the soonest off-ramp.

My scenario seemed fairly simple, hit the freeway after DC Fast charging. I am glad this hanging knife is going to be addressed for my pony atleast and I can not worry about it ever again (in theory) once it’s fixed.

Have had a love hate relationship with this car. Multiple small issues over the past month specifically like exterior side pillar peeling and rear bumper attachments coming loose, screen shutting off while driving etc. Still, love the looks and the feel of the drive. I will power through the early stages of this new vehicle. (New in fords line up)

Wish me luck with the HVBJB replacement… I’ve heard some crazy stories. I’m hoping I’m spared.

***UPDATE*** (1/16/23)

Got in contact with Ford BEV team who opened a case for me. They got my details and ensured me over the phone that my vehicle would be receiving the new part rather than the same part that is destined to fail (In GT models at least).

My dealership told me as well that they had no loaner cars to give me, but that Ford would cover the cost of a rental via Hertz, enterprise etc. I also confirmed this with my Case manager over the phone as well from Ford BEV team.

A couple days passed and I reached out to Ford BEV team (Via Emails - Which the lady told me is her best way to reach her) to get an ETA on the part shipment so I can gauge how long I should rent the car for.

I have not been able to talk with her (My Case manager) since that day (Jan 10th)

Luckily, my service representative at Galpin Ford has been giving me regular updates on what he's being told. I told my service rep to verify that the part they send is the new one before they install, and he ensured me he would. He also said the car could be ready by mid this week.

Today the part arrived. And, as expected, the Ford BEV team sent the defective part despite telling me it would be the new one. My service rep at Galpin notified me of this and told me they are sending it back to them and requesting the new one. Not expected to arrive until the end of the week. I'll know more on Friday hopefully.

I will continue to try and reach out to my Ford BEV Case manager and see what is going on. I had to return the loaner today and was going to take a chance by not extending the rental because I was skeptical of how much Ford would actually cover of the cost. So unfortunately, now I'm out of a car again and my MMEGT is going to be in the shop longer. (although, I've heard much worse wait times for HVBJB repairs so I'm keeping it in perspective.)

Will continue to update as we go along.

Wow, so sorry to hear of another failure. But since it looks like you are at Galpin Ford (the largest Ford dealer in the world), I am sure they have done this repair many times before. Parts seem to be a lot more available right now as my dealer ordered one last week and it came in the next day. The only unknown is how many cars Galpin has waiting in que to go into the shop.

Mine went out on Friday as well. No fast charging, just pulling on to the freeway, 20 degrees out and not WOT.
March build date, 8,200 miles, fast charged once. Kind of happy it happened close to home and that the new HVBC will be installed.

Yeah this is Galpin. Where I purchased the car from. Thank you and I hope you are right! Just anxiously waiting to call Ford BEV when they open tomorrow to start applying pressure on Galpin.

Yeah, kind of like a bandaid waiting to be ripped off fast. It has now happened, just gotta get through the hard part and can hopefully drive the car much more anxiety free! Good luck to you as well

Welcome my friend. Our HVBJB took about 22 days total, some have been less than 7 days, others 45+ days. Just open a case with the BEV team via Ford Customer Service as soon as you drop off at your dealer. Get them covering your rental etc. Click the link for my 10 bullet point summation below. Good luck!

Dropping mine off at the dealer in the morning, will post how long it took to fix once I get it back.

This has me concerned. I am also a non-performance GT with extended range. Built in late September 2022. I have 1000 miles this far.

looks like F.O.R.D (found on roadside dead) is living up to the moniker.

Your car has the new HVBJB which drastically reduce the chances of a failure. The op has a car with the older part,

I used to believe that. Are we still confident it is true? Even after the several recent failures of the "new" part, on a much smaller installed base with much lesser average miles driven? Drastically?

I don't have nearly enough data to conclude the failure rate is drastically lower, but perhaps others do.

Good point but the new part is more robust. The question has always been: is it robust enough? It appears it is not robust enough for some cars. But it is logical to assume the failure rate will be much lower with the more robust HVBJB. Not zero, obviously.

At this point we have no evidence to suggest it is just as failure prone as the old part. If you have the updated HVBJB, you can be even more relaxed than I am. 22k and still on the original. WOTs daily. ?

I used to believe that, too, but how exactly do we know that it's true? The only statement I see from Ford is at the link below, FAQ for the recall, which says only that the old part is "not robust". They don't actually say that the new part is robust, although we've been assuming that it must be.

Call me a cynic, but sometimes it's important to read exactly what was - and wasn't - claimed by the manufacturer.

If I missed an official Ford statement on this, I would be happy to be corrected. I would feel even better if Ford announced the actual improvement in the part's specification to quantify the increase in "robustness". Meanwhile, I have been driving as I like for over a year with no problem, so I will not worry about it. But the multiple recent failures of the "new" HVBJB do make me wonder...

Yes. Drastically. Or try’s have failed much sooner.
