The black plate has better dimensioning for the front bumper. Everyone also has their own level of where they think the aesthetics work for them. ?‍♂?

That looks “better” than the white plate!

have your plates read ok in the express lanes?

I’m wondering what the LEOs think of such a plate modification?

I don't do express lanes, so I don't know. ?‍♂?

In my town the LEOs will ticket you for anything. Once I got my plates I got pulled over several times in the first week. Each officer looked at the paperwork and the original front plate and let me go. After that, I'm sure word spread around the PD that my plates are fine. ??

From Sto and Sho out of Morgan Hill, CA.

They make them for GT and non GT models.

A little pricey but we have license plate readers here for the express lanes. My net cost is the frame minus the cost of the express lane transponder which I did not have to purchase.

I don't recommend that position. It's going to reduce the performance or block the cruise radar, and it's going to scrape on the ground when going up a driveway ramp.

I use Craigs plate holder with a bracket to raise the plate to avoid sensor interference. It works well, though I'd prefer it if the plate could be vertical rather than pointing slightly towards the ground.

The Craig’s bracket is only attached with 2 sided 3M tape?
Yes. You put it on with the plate bracket attached for positioning purposes and then you remove the plate bracket and leave just the mounting bracket on for 24-48 hours for the tape adhesive to cure. I used to check it regularly but haven't in months. The only issue I've had with it is that the thumb nut that holds on the plate bracket started to come loose so I added some Loctite Blue to the threads and it's been fine since (though I would check on it!).

That my friend is what the camera button in 4.1.2 is for!
I don't have a front camera. Base GT.

That one was close, and I have had other close calls, but no damage yet. I am very careful when pulling up to curbs. Usually I stop the car before the curb, not after. That one looked low enough. It was, but I should have stopped before it anyway.

Doesn’t that interfere with the radar?
I have no problems with the radar or front sensors on my car.

However, the plate is actually vinyl. My original plate was on the front of my old car. It was so destroyed by rocks and road debris I needed a new plate, but the DMV does not make it anymore. I ordered a vinyl replica which is covered with a plastic shield.

So, to LEOs it looks like a real metal plate. And since it is not metal, that may mean less radar/sensor interference potential.

Your results may vary.

Interesting! My ‘23 base GT has the camera. I ordered a ‘22 like yours without the cameras (metal roof). But when the order was converted to a ‘23, the base GT had the glass roof and cameras.

I prefer the metal roof but I wish I had the cameras. On the other hand, then I would have the face nanny that comes with BlueCruise, and I know I would absolutely hate the face nanny. It all works out for the best I guess!

Here is a picture of what it looks like on my car. License plates are ugly, no way around it. But relatively I really like how the low plate looks.

interesting. A couple of times mine got covered with a light coating of snow and it stopped working.
It stopped showing the car in front of me and BC was unavailable.

Understand but on a GT the look wasn’t working for us.

Hey, that's my car! I like it ;) I didn't have to cut it or modify it. Just used a hairdryer and patience to get it just right. There aren't bumps to show where to drill, they are little concave spots so when this is applied over it, it is perfectly smooth. The vinyl is pretty thick. And yes it reads just fine in the express lane.

Anybody have a good picture of where the sensors are over the entire front? I have 4x very powerful magnets and I was going to epoxy 2 inside and 2 to the back of the plate with furniture pads between the plate/magnet and the front bumper.

My worry is that this magnet will throw off any sensors in the area. If it works I can just pull the plate off or stick it right back on (it's a vinyl decal attached to a plastic flat plate cover).

Thanks!
