We got the Service Vehicle Soon notice on the dashboard and in the Ford Pass (powertrain malfunction/reduced power). It had charged up to 90% (we think) overnight and was at 89% when we turned it on but preconditioning was happening too at 0800hrs.

We've gotten the latest software update that changed the center screen appearance and functions (e.g., volume nob controls heat). And our build date was Sept 2022.

I'll call our dealership tomorrow and get the ball rolling.

If it goes away, probably the GSM bug

It hasn't so far after checking it a couple times but not driving it. If you're referring to the gear shift module bug, ours was built after that period of time referenced in that post.
I would invest in an OBDII reader to check codes when you need it, that would give more info and save you time at the dealer or let you know if it’s an actual issue they will identify

Just download Car Scanner, free on iOS or Android. I bet this isn't your HVBJB but see what codes you have.

Would that be the Car Scanner ELM OBD2 app?

@Mach-Lee I'll see if I can get the CX adapter to work before ordering another scanner.

Car Scanner is what I use most of the time (FORScan mobile too). Yeah, let me know if the CX works fully.

Just got the MME back from the dealer and an OBD2 reader would not have been able to clear the error. This scary error message was a function of the latest OTA update that had just happened on our MME.

@Ford Motor Company It would seem that your software team did not thoroughly debug this update before releasing it and the Mach e forums are seeing a lot of traffic from others with this update problem. And dealers are having to deal with this. It's unacceptable.

I've turned off OTA updates to prevent another screw up like this from happening. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Why would an OBD reader not have worked? It was just a DTC that you clear, isn't it? I don't think the RFA one is special and cannot be cleared? Looks like that's all they did was clear it. @Mach-Lee can probably chime in, but maybe even pulling the RFA fuse would have fixed it.

The above doesn't take away that this shouldn't have happened in the first place! Happy to hear it was an easy fix, though still a trip to the dealer which is never fun (especially since most never even have good coffee anymore!).

Thanks Neil. I'm just saying what the dealer said about the OBD reader. I don't know enough about them and their functions to speak knowledgeably about that technology.

Couldn't agree with you more on this update not being sufficiently tested.

Ah, okay, that'd make sense. I think you could clear it, definitely worthwhile still grabbing one for yourself so you can troubleshoot items in the future!

I think what they mean is a standard OBDII reader would not have been able to clear the RFA codes. However an enhanced scan tool and software such as OBDLink MX+ and FORScan are able to clear all Mach-E trouble codes. It's likely dealers aren't aware of the capabilities and believe that only their scan tool can clear all codes.

Thanks for this Lee. So the OBDLink MX+ is what you'd recommend?

Thanks for the thumbs up and I've ordered it. I'll now have the MX+ for the MME and another reader for the i4.
