Level 4 autonomous driving is here now.I think it will be years away. The entire concept of sleeping in the drivers seat scares me. I talked to one of my clients who has it in their 2021 Tesla X said it was a complete pain in the ass to use. They took it off after about 5 minutes. The reason??? Every minute or so the car would make you do something like Turn the wheel slightly, look to the right or left momentarily or move your hands on the steering wheel. Their comment was basically that it was far more difficult to keep the automatic driving on then to just put the cruise control on and drive it your self.
If I had to do all of that, which honestly makes sense because it makes sure that you are paying attention to the road, I would just do cruise as well. It has lane control and blind side avoidance and pedestrian avoidance so in short If I start to veer out of the lane it will tell me.
