Why do you have to go through the whole song and dance with wipers, autohold and whatnot? As soon as you put it in N, and hit L, it's in 30 min Neutral mode. It disables the autohold. Moreover you can shut it off and get it out and it stays that way. It doesn't switch back to P, doesn't apply the parking brake. That thing will roll until the 30 minutes are up.
Yep. I never turn off Auto Hold or anything else. I ask the car wash kids if they know how to do it, and now most of them have handled a MME before. But I still just tell them to press L and all is good.

Well, most of the time. Sometimes L doesn't work. And the car wash I go to won't force the car to move so it sits there, immobile. A couple times I had to ride through the wash inside the car. But most of the time there is no issue.

They have touchless car washes these days. Drive in, put it in park and let the water swirl around you as you enjoy the show from the comfort of your car.
Its the only type of car wash i take my Mach E to.
So here in Pennsylvania, the most modern car washes we have were built in the 1940s or something. They feature high-speed wire brushes to restore that metallic shine ?

There are a few of these near me, but I'm paranoid that the water pressure will pop the charge port door open, so I go to the wand wash next door instead.

Neutral + "L" Button leaves the car in Neurtral for 30 minutes...Huh, I'm not sure I knew that. I'm a hand washer. Wife thinks I'm a bit nuts, but that might not be related to the car.

Simple procedure:
Disengage One Pedal Drive and Auto Hold if you have them enabled. Fold in your mirrors. Buckle your drivers seat belt and tell attendant to leave it buckled. This will allow the car to remain in neutral when attendant exits the car in the wash lane leaving car in neutral. If you have auto lock enabled you can either disable it or leave the key in the car.
You and I must disagree on the definition of “simple.”

Other cars: 1 step- put in neutral.

Mach E- 7 steps……. to put in neutral.

It’s not that hard!

It isn't hard. It's two steps. That's why I'm confused about what @Ex 2011GTCS said. You don't have to do any of that nonsense.

If you're worried, use strips of 1.5"-2" thick painter's tape over the door.

I’ve had the same concern, and worried the little square piece where the frunk wires hide may be knocked off too. Had wondered if it would be ok to tape them. had my Mach e almost a year and have always hand washed.

Solution: Garden hose, bucket of suds, micro-fiber mitt, chamois, a little sunshine, and a maybe cold beverage. Zero terror.
Wait - a bucket of suds AND a cold beverage? Have to time it right - beer before liquor, and all that. Still, I like where your head's at.

Try the brushless car wash on Henderson Rd, next to Franklin maps in KoP
