I use to own an older Dodge Charger back in the day and when I put Cherry Bombs on the dual exhaust I thought that was a cool sound when I got on it. Realize that I was 18 at the time.My personal opinion is.....
it is stupid to ADD noise, complexity and cost.
Shelby added the Borla 'exhaust sound' and replicated rpm and shifting even.... stupid in my opinion, and I would not pay $0.01 to add ANY sound as a fake external noisemaker.
I think whether it is an ICE, airplane or really anything that moves I get that tingly feeling when I hear a "cool" sound when taking off.
The sweet thing about an EV is that you can have the best of both worlds. I would love to have the sound once in a while but at other times I would like to have the peace of no sound. The "noise" brings me back to my youth and the quiet reminds me when my parents were and wanting me to turn down the sound.
When you think about it, most ICE cars are modifying the sound that comes out of the engine as well. I see EV's as no different other than you are modifying them to make a louder noise and the ICE is modifying them to make a quieter sound.
In both cases, the sound coming from the power plant is modified to some extent.
