Hi there, new happy Mach-E owner in Brussels, Belgium !
Glad to join "the" forum...

is it possible to add 1) a 360° camera and 2) a rear trunk electric opening device to my AWD Extended range ?
I have everything but that....

Thank you !

You have access to a 360 degree camera by touching the camera button at the top left corner of the big screen. It also comes on when you go into reverse. Your key fob and the Ford App, on your cell phone, both have trunk release buttons.

If your particular model didn’t come with a 360° camera, there are aftermarket ones available, but you’d have to look around and it probably isn’t going to integrate very well.

If your model doesn’t have the hands free opening tailgate, it can be added. There are lots made to convert them. But I’m not sure if you don’t have an electronic lift gate at all, or if you’re just wanting to add a button to activate one you already have. The answer to both questions is yes and can be found here on the forum. If you can clarify I can help point you in the right direction.

Just an observation, all extended ranges have every option fitted, including the questions your asking, however the standard range including AWD don't, can you have confirmed that you have the extended range.

Hi Paul,

Mine is a 2021 AWD Extended Range UK spec I experimented with this set up some time ago, mine will not put the handbrake on if you either just switch it off or select park.

If I want the handbrake on can either open my door, I think the front passenger’s door may also engage handbrake or simply just use the handbrake button.

I do hope I don't get any software updates that stop me having this option that I only use to stop the brake pads sticking to rusty disc when I park the car wet, plus not quite as relevant in the UK but for some very cold climates the Pads could be frozen to the disc if parked wet especially if disc are cold which is easily achievable with One Pedal Drive.

My thread a while ago discussed similar points at length BUT I wanted to park with the handbrake OFF the only way I could do that without being locked out the next morning with a DEAD 12v BATTERY was to switch off vehicle which selects PARK then I could get out and the handbrake would remain OFF which suited me but only SOMETIMES.

See my thread
Leaving Mustange Mac E In Neutral WHITHOUT being plugged will cause a completely DEAD 12 Volt battery

Best regards, Mel

Hi Mel,
I think you posted this answer on the wrong threads; mine is about 360 camera and tail lift... eric

Hi Martin, thanks. The 2023 in Belgium have all this included indeed, but not the 2022; here it was an option package on the 2022 models.

Hi, thanks !
- Ok, so on top of the rear view camera I could add a 360°, using the sensors already fitted on the car I guess. I hope my garage will be able to do so.
- I can open the tailgate from the big screen, or from the key, or from the mobile, but I have to lift it manually, or to close it manually, instead of having the electric tools to lift/close it. The tailgate being heavy, it's quite bothersome...

(In fact I wanted both options, but the garage which sold me the car did not foreseen both on the order form.... unlucky me, so I try to compensate...)

Hi Glen, thank you.
My model is not equipped wit the 360 camera yet. And indeed I can open the trunk but I have to lift it myself.

Hi Eric, my apologies, I’m not too good a getting to grips with the system and will have another go at getting it to the right person.

Thank you for letting me know.

Mel.

Typically an aftermarket 360 camera system will require four new cameras installed: A front and rear camera, and one in each of the side mirrors. They also usually require a separate processing box. For the Mustang, one will also need an extra screen unless someone knows how to tap into the video display on the screen--I'm not sure that's possible.

A good garage can install this for you. An intrepid DIYer can also do it. The camera calibration can be finnicky if the system doesn't come with the proper calibration mats, if the instructions are poor, or if the installer isn't familiar with how to calibrate stitching camera scenes together for 360 degree views.

I suppose an intrepid DIYer could also purchase all of the Ford hardware to try to integrate this into the Ford system, but I believe that hardware needs to be activated by Ford and I believe it also requires a subscription (maybe free for some trial period).

i have ordered a FitCam with rearview cam for my car, but cannot speak to its functionality, as it was being installed during my detailing that is on-going. Not 360, but front and rear.

Myself, i couldn't find the trunk button, and was humbled by the detailer who found it on the tablet.
Could one even yell at the ford assist to open it? HELLO FORD lol
