Picking up a used MME next week from a private seller. How do I factory reset all the settings (i.e. door pin codes etc), and make sure the car is removed from the previous owner's ford pass account and added to mine?
(This is the first Ford product we've owned, so not familiar with it at all)

Anything else we need to do (other than getting it detailed), to get rid of all traces of the previous owner?

Also how do I transfer the ford factory extended warranty to my name?

Thanks!

If you go into the settings on the center screen, you'll find reset under the General tab.

This will reset back to factory. Note - the factory door code cannot be reset, only any other codes the seller setup. Anyone with that code can open the door.

Then simply add the VIN to FordPass, and it will send a request to the car, and you approve it.

Transferring an extended warranty requires the prior owner's signoff. They can also request a prorated refund. https://www.lombardfordwarrantys.com/delving-deeper/contract-transfer.cfm

Thank you! So you're saying there's a factory default code that anyone can use to open the car? Is that code different for each car (I hope?) and is that code documented somewhere?

(new to Ford and the door pin system).

Yes it's unique. And printed on a card that comes with the owner's manual.

Each vehicle comes from the factory with a unique code. It cannot be erased, or changed. You can erase any codes added by a prior owner, but not that original code.

If you have two fobs, you can pull up the code if the owner didn't give you the plastic card with it on it.

Yeah there are two key fobs. The current owner uses his phone as the key, but has shown me both key fobs.
How do I "Pull up the code" with two key fobs?

Put one fob in the special spot in the center console, put the car into and out of accessory mode, then put a second fob in and do it again. Then the factory code pops up on the instrument cluster.

Sounds straight forward enough! Thank you so much!
