I've thought about the Lightning Fob, I use my Frunk. Every grocery run, the bags go in the Frunk. But I'm usually PAAK when at the store. What I really want is a power lift gate Frunk activated by the foot under the bumper. I can dream can't I?
That would require new hardware.

I had hopes they had improved the setup since I’ve had no success since losing my PaaK over a year ago. PaaK setup downloads the key but cannot connect Bluetooth to the car. The PaaK also can’t be reset on the car (as the failed setup advises) because the option is greyed out - since PaaK isn’t set up! And I’ve even tried full resets in the past without success. Even worse, the dealership just shrugs and says “well, maybe it just isn’t going to work.” Complete failure from Ford.

I would say more like "Christine", but yeah the PaaK seems better. I still don't really trust it yet, and I always have my lightning keyfob so I can open the frunk easily.
Just got my Mach-E last week! My keyfob doesn’t have a button to open the frunk. Where do you get the lightening keyfob from?

I’m glad others are having more success with PAAK after the update, but I’ve been using PAAK since I got the car March 22 and I am not seeing any change. If anything it’s slightly worse. Having said that, it has always mostly worked for me without getting the phone out. Sometimes it’s slow to unlock, sometimes I get no key detected, liftgate rarely works without first opening a door, but worst I’ve had to do is restart the FordPass app. Was hoping even those little annoyances would go away but not with this update.
The same for me.

Same.

We installed a new front door with a digital lock two weeks ago and I thought "hey, I could be completely keyless now...". PAAK never worked in the past, and I needed a house key anyway, so always had the fob.

So I tried PAAK again, without doing anything differently, and it has worked every time. I have to say, being able to leave the house w/o keys at all is pretty awesome, especially in the summer.

And my daughter also told me she tried the lock icon on the door the other day and it also worked.

I received this update and didn't think much of it because I never used PAAK because it wasn't reliable. One day I forgot my key and didn't even realize it until I got home. PAAK worked perfectly so I tried leaving my key and using it more often. It's been working almost perfectly. Sometimes, I have to open the app but I almost never get a key not found warning anymore.

This update also has allowed my wife to start using PaaK on her iPhone 7. She had given up on PaaK two years ago.
Might I suggest a new phone as a gift for your wife? ?

I’ve been totally keyless ever since I bought the Mustang Mach e. The only time I bring the fob is when I’m going to the car wash, or on an overnight trip (simply because I’m paranoid).

I haven't used PAAK for a long time but after this 21B36 update my Apple Carplay no longer works. It recognizes my phone, it just won't connect CarPlay. It tells me to try the sync cable (which i did) but no luck. I even deleted the phone and re-installed it, twice. Hopefully this will be a "sleep on it" type fix where all will be well tomorrow.

I've been happy with PAAK (enought that the negatives still outweigh carrying a fob).

My only gripe is I can't for the life of me get two phones set up as PAAK. I can set up either phone on its own and they both work but once a phone is set up I can't get a second phone through the setup process. Anyone else have this same issue?

I've owned my 21' MME now for 2 years today!!! Outside of the initial Cluster F**** from the 1st few months when PAAK did not work really at all; then I had to take to the Dealer for an update; my updates since have all been pretty Flawless. I would keep an eye on the forum and generally 2-4 weeks after the initial EA members would get the update, I would get them without incident. I tell you this to say I have had a failed update everyday since June 7th!!!!! As many of you know it is really annoying every time you turn the car off, it reminds you of the failed OTA as well as a message on FP.

<snip>

ps. not sure why the OTA failures, but as we all know from this experience with the MME, she can be a little like "Carrie".
Regarding the OTA install failures... I also have a '21 MME for a little over 2 years now. I'm in the Early Access program and tend to get the updates fairly reliably and had never had an install failure until last month. Someone on the forum pointed out that if the 12v battery is low, the car will not install the update.

I had recently started to receive low 12v battery warnings after coming home from vacation to a car that wouldn't unlock. I had to jump the 12v and since then I get occasional messages. I put a 12v battery charger (tender) on the battery for a couple of hours, then tried the OTA installation and it worked fine. You may want to have your 12v battery checked. I still need to get mine to the dealer to have it replaced.

I saw the same posts about the low 12 V battery. However, I have one of the volt readers in the cigarette lighter inside me glove box between the two front seats. It was originally and still in the 14+ ratio.

Interesting enough, a new OTA wanted to download today at lunch and I received another failure. Maybe it is the battery!?!?

I was told by the technician at the dealer that it's not the voltage, it's the capacity. It may read 14+ Volts but if the accessory battery isn't over 70% charged, the update won't load.

I feel like this mirrors my experience both before and after the update. I've been a pretty dedicated PAAK user, and it's always been fundamentally reliable in allowing me to access and drive the car. But it's been clunky and slow, often requiring multiple door button presses, sometimes "no key detected" and frequently it doesn't readjust my seat to my profile settings (after my wife drives).

Following the update I've been trying to tell if anything is improved. "Maybe" it's a little bit more responsive? But it would be so subtle that it could be just a placebo effect. It's definitely still unreliable with adjusting my seat to my profile settings.

I noticed a FordPass update today that states something about PAAK improvements, so I'll keep testing it out.

In case it matters, I'm using an Iphone 13 Pro.

The F150 Lightning key can be purchased for Ford or you can purchase it from a third-party vendor such as the numerous ones on eBay or CarAndTruckTemotes.com. Some of the eBay vendors even replace the power tailgate button with one that shows a power liftgate (like found on the MME) and replace the battery cover with a Mustang cover. ??
