So just to confirm...for a '21 model (and possibly a '22 as well) the "-NAE" is the latest gateway rev. to date? Cause I thought there were others that got "-NAE" as OTA 5.1.1 a few weeks ago.

I know this is a longshot, but does anyone have knowledge of what is actually being updated in the gateway module? I know this is going to be very insider Ford knowledge only but, I'm curious why the gateway module has to be updated almost every time we are expecting other updates? Its like saying before every windows update, we have to update the software on the NIC (Network Interface Card). Just makes me wonder.
I don’t know anything for sure, but I’ve always assumed that the GWM is responsible for actually installing the updates. So as the update process gets refined they need to update the module doing the updates. I would equate it more to updating the install wizard vs the NIC card.

I applied for EA, never heard back.
They never notified me either, I went on the website a few weeks after applying and it said invited.

I am beyond confused some people have 6.1.1 others have 5.1.1 and I have a 23 GTPE and just received update 4.2.5 or something like that on Sept. 25th. So not really sure how this works only had the car a few weeks.

Ford doesn't roll out the updates to everyone at once. They do it in waves. People who have 6.0.1 are in the "Early Access Program". A beta program of sorts. It'll be a few more weeks/months before it gets rolled out to every car.

Yeah, I think the TCU is more akin to the NIC. The GWM is more of a communications traffic cop as I understand it. Updating it is more like updating the firmware that controls low-level I/O (beneath the OS level) on the motherboard. ?‍♂?

Also the upgrade number can apply to different vehicles. Depending on the submodule and when they were made.

If you've had the vehicle for a few weeks it will take longer than that to catch up. You will slowly get more as days go by to bring it up to date. Also there are some of us that are in Early Access Program and so we may receive updates that have not deployed to everyone yet.

Someone else can jump in and correct me here since I can't remember, but I think if you're on 4.2.5, you have 4.2.6 to go then 5.1.1 so you're not far behind really.

I went from 4.2.3 on the 8th of this month to 5.1.1 on the 28th. I didn’t see any of the 4.3 updates that i remember.

I got 5.1 yesterday. Not in EA.
You miss understood what I meant... only one update of 5.x and going to 6.x make is off. Generally you go 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 ext for a bit then jump to 6…

it’s like going from iOS 16 to iOS 17 with no updates in between.
