Vehicle comes to jarring stop while backing up

On three occasions recently, my 2021 MACH-E has come to a jarring stop while backing up. Any ideas?

I have a patch of grass between the road and my driveway. If I don’t keep it cut, the brake assist activates because it sees the grass as an obstacle and stops the car! I’m glad I have brake assist but it gets annoying sometimes!

They must have made a bad deal with him because he has never cut the grass. Lol

Keep the camera and sensors clear.

Our Audi has the same feature and had done the same thing a couple of times, and I just needed to clean the sensors.

It does not take much to trip, as the systems are going to err on the side of safety.

Happens when my sprinklers are on, so I turn it off when I am backing up with those on
