Ultium EVgo Now Open in Ellensburg, WA!!

The Pilot Travel Center in Ellensburg has come online! It's a split 350kW two-charger setup with dual cables capable of simultaneous charging. This is huge news if you have ever dealt with the clown show that is the Taco Bell Electrify America.

It's $0.59/kWh.

Is it worth the $0.11/kWh premium over EA to be able to immediately plug into a working charger, get full power, and have access to clean bathrooms and convenient food & retail amenities? (I'd argue it absolutely is)

Since PlugShare didn't have the cost, that's why I asked. I can see that in EVGo. That means that Pilot is also doing per location rates, not a surprise.

Of course if one is a Pass+ member, it's 36 cents vs. 59 cents (the comparison), assuming nearby EA is 48 cents. But if it actually performs as expected, that is worth something.

59/48 = 22.9% premium
59/36 = 64% premium

70% charge (going from 10 to 80%):

Pilot - $37.58 plus tax
EA - $30.58 plus tax
EA Pass+ - $22.93 plus tax

This also shows how Pass+ pays for itself in around 1 charge ($30.58 - $22.93 = $7.65).

as I understand it, having an EVgo membership won't reduce the pricing at these Pilot and Flying J locations.

Electrify America at the Ellensburg Taco Bell is subpar on so many levels. Despite the fact that they're the Gen 4 chargers, one or more chargers is usually broken. There's always congestion with queues waiting to charge.

Getting Magic Dock adapters will help a ton since there's a 12-stall Tesla V3 in town too.

I was wondering about the TB chargers. We are going east next spring and from Kitsap you have to stop in Ellensburg.

another option would be top up in North Bend then Moses lake Tesla charger.

What are the issues with TB?

North Bend + Moses Lake magic dock would work fine, for sure. You may end up stopping in Ellensburg anyway due to a full bladder. Having more choices for charging is a great thing!

Taco Bell Ellensburg Electrify America suffers from both long waiting times and broken chargers. Last week, 2 out of 4 chargers were completely broken and offline which only exacerbates the waiting times. I've both waited for a charger to open up and skipped it entirely when I've seen how bad the queue is.

Getting the new Pilot travel center chargers online will relieve pressure on the Taco Bell. It'll also be a much more pleasant place to wait than a gas station, walmart, or fast food joint.

Lastly, there's a Tesla V3 Supercharger close to the Taco Bell EA so as soon as we get the adapter, we'll have that as an option too.
