I received a call today from Ford's buyback team that my buyback has been approved (requested 30-Nov-2023; approved 2-Jan-2024; about 30 days). Since the first HVBJB occurred in just over a thousand miles my usage charge is only about $500.

Anyone know how long it will be from the time I surrender my Mach-E until my loan gets paid? I had negative equity from my trade in to get the original loan and I want to roll that into a loan for a new vehicle. Surprisingly the Ford buyback team sends out a paper check to Ford Finance who then processes the payment.

As the Mach-E is the only car I have, I want to estimate how long I will need to rent a vehicle from the time I surrender the vehicle until the day I am able to buy a new one.

the buyback people should be able to give you some idea.
I'm curious as I may need to go the buyback route. Who did you contact to start the process? My case manager went MIA after our initial conversation where she said she'd keep me updated, and has failed to answer emails or phone messages, been probably six weeks.

Not sure which number to give you. You could try 1-866-631-3788 which would be your case manager's number I am assuming since it is mine. But instead of giving an extension ask to speak with someone else.

The other number is Ford Protect at 1-800-392-3673. Honestly, I had to play phone tag with so many people I forgot which is the most reliable.

My case manager did a great job the first time around getting me reimbursed for the gas I had to buy for the loaner the dealership gave me while they worked on my Mach-E after the first and second HVBJB failures.

After the third failure I submitted a buyback which my case manager (same as the first time and kept the same case number) and he sent me an email a few weeks later informing me my buyback was denied and he went MIA when I asked him to get me more information since I met the minimum requirement as per California's Lemon Law.

I eventually found someone who was able to inform me that my buyback was still pending. Turned out a buyback was submitted twice. The first was buyback was submitted by the first person I spoke with, the second with my original case manager. Ford rejected the second one because it was redundant. But they didn't tell my case manager that. Hence the confusion.

Good luck with your buyback.

Which new car are you going to get? used Polestar 2 is dirt cheap right now due to rental company dumping them. A 22 fully loaded can be picked up around $30K-$35K. MSRP was $60K. Used MME GT is also cheap if you want to give ford another try.

HAHAHA!!!! It was just this morning I noticed two white Polstars in the parking lot at my work. Now that I'm looking at getting another EV I am sizing up Mach-E alternatives.

Thinking about going with a Hyundai Ioniq 6. Test drove one while my Mach-E was getting worked on and it was an amazing car. It has a better warranty than Ford and I am still trying to confirmation to see if it still comes with free 30 minute charging sessions with Electrify America for two years.

What concerns me about getting a late model used EV is wondering if someone dumped a lemon. I saw a few 2023 Mach-E's including GTs at a nearby CarMax for about $35,000. Assuming a profit is to be made that means someone took a big financial loss on the vehicle. Makes one wonder why?

Yup. Some of those are buy back cars. Others are people just trying to get out from the car at all costs.

I am supposed to find out about my lemon/buyback this Friday. Fully 1/3 of my time of ownership of my MME CR1 it has been in the shop waiting for a part that doesn't exist (37 days and counting). Once they find that magic part and fix the car, there will be another great low-mileage car available for sale!

For lemon buyback, the carfax will show a branded title. Unfortunately, most of them are not branded. That is just the nature of EV prices right now. It falls harder than a BMW 7 series. If you go with Ioniq 6, you probably would want to lease for the $7500 credit and buyout. The car will drop 50% value in 2 years like the rest of the EV. If I am in the market now, I would get lightly used EV. I doubt ioniq 6 is better than polestar 2 in terms of range, acceleration, interior quality. The ioniq 5 I test drove had terrible plastic interior. Only thing worth noting is the extra power train warranty. I would take $20K cash saved over that warranty any day.

I almost always bought my EV's just at the 3 year old mark. The 'value' had tanked and I was able to get the car for about 1/3rd it's msrp with sub 30k on the clock. BUT the MME ended up being a ' I want it now ' purchase. Which was a $25k loss this year. Had I waited till that 3 year mark (read: today, not last Jan) I'd be able to get a GTPE for about $35k (so roughly half MSRP and $20k less than I paid for my prem. Mods excluded).

If the buyback goes through and I stick with an EV, I plan on going used this time too.

If there is some sort of incentive offer to stay with a new Ford EV, I would be open to that, but I'm nowhere near as motivated to buy new as I was 4 months ago after this lemon experience.

Some good deals out there, Audi E-Tron and E-Tron GT are a bargain. The Audi E-Tron drives extremely nice and if you travel has an incredible DC charge curve. It will hold 150kw to 85+ percent SOC. Having driven a few Volvo C40s & xc40 rentals those would be high on my list

When I test drove the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 (while the Mach E Select was getting diagnosed) I did notice the crappy ? interior of the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 6 was much nicer on the inside, albeit smaller, but not by much. It also felt great driving.

But in the end I decided to go with a 2023 Hyundai Sonata hybrid. At 51 mpg at $5.00 a gallon, it's cheaper than charging my 3.1 miles per kwh Mach-E at $0.42 cents per kwh during off peak hours.

That's a painful Cali problem. Lucky me with 7 cents off hours. My sister gets 3.2 cents off hours (Texan) But the only thing she has to charge is an actual golf cart.

I just received an email from the BEV team that my buyback was approved. Now I have to wait to be contacted by the buyback team.

Buyback requested (2nd request) Dec 28, approved today, waiting for the buyback team for further instructions and offer. Total time in the shop is 39 days today, and counting...

Have you received any other info from Ford yet?
