I have a 2023 GTPE AWD and when I turn at slow speeds, a sharp turn, there’s a popping noise and feeling. I’ve read about spindles being an issue on ‘21 model years but I thought this was resolved.
It’s been this way since day 1 and seems to come and go.
Any ideas what’s causing this?

Likely the tires slipping.

Probably comes and goes based on tire temp and the surface you’re on.

Mine does it as the car bounces and I turn hard almost every time I exit my driveway.

Had a loaner 2023 GTPE last week and it didn’t do it, but the tires had 300 miles on them. Didn’t spin the tires at full throttle until 25 mph either (mine spins at any speed under 30).

Tires trying to get traction. I experienced the same thing on my gtpe. Brought it into the shop and they tested my car and all the other gtpe on the lot - all had the same noise.

Once I got new tires, the sounds went away.

Hello! Could you privately message us with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer so I can look into this popping noise concern? Thank you!

I took my '22 GT last Friday for the same issue and they thought it was brake related. They want to burnish the brakes when it gets warmer. I'm not sure how it is brake related when I'm not applying the brakes.

I used to work in Brakes, specifically with Ford/ Brembo on these vehicles, and I can assure you it's not the brakes. Hopefully the dealer didn't charge you for that.

Luckily, no charge.

The brakes can (and do) make loud popping noises. Especially if you put the car to bed wet.

But that usually shows up the first few times you hit the brakes and is easily fixed by doing a medium stop in neutral from about 40 mph.

My ‘21 GTPE does this too…when I turn the wheel fully (like in a dead end turn around strees). My ‘21 First Edition does not do it.
I just assumed it has something to do with the suspension, as I think that and the wheels/tires are the only real difference in the 2 cars. I’ve never asked my service dept about it.

Did you reply/DM Ford? If yes, what did they say?

Either all of our cars are broken in the same way, or they’re all fine.

My guess is “fine,” based on the fact that our cars all drive ok and nothing seems visually broken.

The Ford team that monitors this forum is able to help you connect with a dealer, and in my case, they probably motivated the dealer to be more responsive. But they don't do anything else. Many here will joke about them, but I appreciated the help. That said, you can probably do just as well working directly with your dealer.

Ahh good to know! Thank you!

Any 500 miles so far and haven't heard a peep! Passenger princess is relatively happy as well as she got anxiety whenever the noise came up.

Never had summer tires before so I can't compare the old tires to anything else - sample size of 1 :D

That’s different. That’s because when the car is in “park” it’s really just the rear EPB (electronic park brake) clamping the rear rotors. When the car goes to “bed” with wet rotors, the rear pads will stick to the rotors and make a loud pop when they release.
This is not the same as what I’m talking about.
