I think we are in violent agreement?

Haha yes.
"Opportunity for optional performance upgrade, delivering the quickest 0-60 time of any production Mustang Mach-E ever. More details on the upgrade will be shared at a later date"

This is all acceleration. The 5 second limit doesn't apply to the 0-60 time. I'm guessing its optional Trofeo R tires or something stupid like that. Maybe better traction control.
It's just too bad that 5 second limit could not have somehow been a 10 second limit. It would allow it to cross the quarter mile in 11 something, possibly. 10 second limit would be more than enough time to achieve most moderately aggressive acceleration goals.

Unless you're buying a 2024 Mach-E GT I wouldn't worry about it.

I would guess that it would be a one time fee. Doesn't make sense for a performance upgrade be a subscription, there's no connected data service or any on going update needed.
BMW wanted to charge a subscription for heated seats and steering wheel, and there was no connected data or ongoing updates there. I would not be surprised at all if a subscription for performance was attempted by Ford or another automaker at some point, if they haven't already tried it.

I can say they're full o chit. Single pane glass will always be hotter than a metal roof with an insulation layer followed up with a headliner. I have a both. It was a statement, not a question.
Ok ?‍♂

Oh, BMW most certainly did charge a monthly service for heated seats and customer told them to piss off. They lost money on it because nobody paid for it and all the $ that went into setting it up went down the drain. It no longer exists.

Tesla had a similar thing where they put HS in every vehicle and then charged a 1 time fee to activate them. Even that is a shady tactic since the cost of the heating elements was already part of the car. People don't want to be nickel and dimed, rightfully so.

Ford so far has been decent, especially compared to GM. You can't even have app functionality with a GM that's on your own wifi w/ out forking over $15/mo. Ford steals your telemetry and gives you free access to fordpass in exchange.

If ford wised up with BC pricing to something like $25/mo w/ a yearly contract or 3 month minimum, they'd make more $ as people let $25/mo slip by. They should do something on the whole 5 second limit by letting people trade battery mileage warranty for performance. Key point being mileage, not length. Those of us who won't run out the mileage warranty would happily trade a little for more. They could also sell it as a warranty offset cost by allowing higher battery temps.

Battery degradation is for the most part a linear function based on many variables. if someone always DCFCs then their avg charging rate should remain the same. However those who do it much less like on road trips should be able to take a little more heat during charging for faster speeds. This is common sense stuff though and we won't see that here. Tesla is more than happy to charge a small fee to turn a LR vehicle into a performance though.

As an owner of a ‘21 glassed roof premium who is not full of shit, it is in fact NOT hotter than any metal roof vehicle I own. Maybe the glass is hotter than metal to the touch, but does not add to interior heat in my experience.

Are all of your windows tinted including windshield? There's an extremely noticeable difference between the glass roof and non. Big difference.

I thought i read that instead of a GT and and a GTPE, there is just going to be a GT that comes with magnride and and PE engine, but for a fee you can unlock the PE Horsepower (thus the optional performance upgrade) .

Ford Fusion, Mach E soon?

The "opportunity for optional performance upgrade" wording is kind of awkward. It almost sounds like they're hedging their bets on whether they're going to offer a traditional option or just a software tuning update.

The one thing I can think of that might straddle that line is a set of carbon fiber wheels. They already offer them on the dark horse Mustang coupe. It would be a hardware change, but it's literally a bolt-on upgrade, so it could be offered as a dealer-installed option. Pair it with a software update to revise the tuning of the MagneRide dampers for the reduced unsprung weight, and you could have a significantly imrpoved ride in terms of both acceleration and suspension characteristics.

It’s as is from the factory. Been in well over 100° temps with no noticeable difference from a metal roof. Look it up on the forum. Been debunked several times. Of course there will always be naysayers, but this is my experience with my Mach E.

There is no difference hardware-wise on the motors I. The GT and GT-PE. The major differences are the bigger front brakes and the Magneride. Those are why I got a PE. There is a very slight software difference in the PE that allows more torque, which increases the rate of acceleration slightly, plus the front seats being different. ?‍♂?

From what I am reading, they are simply renaming the GT-PE and ditching the US-spec GT. ??

With all windows tinted the difference is quite noticeable, as is time to cool the cabin down. It's not even close.

I’m confused… we you originally comparing the Mach E, or a generic car with a glass roof?

Hopefully that’s still getting fixed in an unrelated OTA update on existing cars (according to Darren Palmer).

The limit doesn’t affect 0-60 times.

This will likely be a paid hp/tq update.

It also has to be significant enough to justify the price.

50hp? I would pay $1000.

100 hp? $2000

And yes, our motors are capable of 580hp.

But if the new power comes with the same limiters……don’t waste our time!!
