Performance upgrade on 2023 GTPE?

Hi all!

New here so apologies if this is a silly question: I have a 2023 GTPE. As the 2024 GT models have the optional $995 performance upgrade to 700 lbs. of torque, is this something that I could technically do as well to increase torque from 635 lbs to 700? Or because I'm already GTPE from 2023, it's not available to this trim? Thanks, and happy to be here! Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

I dont believe Ford has any plans to allow pre-2024 model GTs to receive a software upgrade to boost them to GTPE levels of performance, no.

As far as I know 2024 GTs are all identical parts (seats, motors, magnaride, brakes), just the software unlocks the boosted performance.

Pre-2024 GT/GTPE were physically different cars (different seats, motors, suspension and brakes). It probably is not safe to do any such update on older models. Though I believe at some point some Ford engineer did hint they may release an update that removes the 5 second performance limit.

If you read @MachLee review of the 2024 GT you will see Ford did upgrade some components and did extensive thermal mapping in order to allow the performance upgrade. He specifically asked your question and there appears to be little interest in investing the time and money needed to provide the upgrade to older models.

I don’t think it’s about being able to “handle” the tq, I think there is a physical limitation with the 2021-2023 motors.

The 2024 has a different motor that has more torque.

That said, we both could get more horsepower if they let us.

Each motor (front and rear) is rated at 290 hp. If they let us have full power, we would be capable of 580 hp instead of the 480 hp we get.

Not sure how useful the 700 tq really will be as until I got better tires, I just spun the wheels under 30 mph with the tq we currently have.

I’m more interested in more horsepower and/or loosened thermal limits on power.

There are two major hardware differences in the 2024 GT from the 2021-2023 GT-PE: Different rear motor (and associated electronics/electricals), and a larger front motor wiring harness (with changes to the fuse and software). These hardware pieces not being in the earlier cars is what will prevent any increase in output. The best that a 2021-2023 GT can expect is a lengthening of the 5 second power limit, and that isn’t even being openly considered at this point. (Yes, Ford’s talking heads have said it’s something they want to address, but that is just lip service at this point.) ?‍?

Lip service for sure.

I wish they would just be honest. Either fix the issue or don’t, but quit dragging us along.
