Since the Rally is getting the new in-house rear motor and associated electricals and electronics, my guess is that the new GT is too. One can only hope that they divorce the glass roof from the GT to be in line with the Rally. ??
Yeah, the glass roof is a liability and there may be some weight savings with going with a solid roof. We can certainly afford to trim 200-300 pounds off somehow. Hopefully new battery tech doen the line will allow for that. These things need to get to like 4000 pounds given their size. Model 3s are 3800-4000 pounds for the dual motor.

Meh, it's an advertisement for a new car, not the feature. It may end up being the case that only the cars with the new motors get the upgrade, but I'm not jumping to that conclusion from an advertisement for the new model year car.

Edit to add, the Ford literature doesn't say 2024 at all.....
The title of the article literally says "The high-powered version of the Mach-E electric SUV gets an appearance package with bronze accents, plus an optional upgrade that promises quicker acceleration".

Also "In addition to the changes in appearance, Ford also teased an optional performance boost to go along with the Bronze package".

Per article it would appear there is some sort of option to improve on the new GT's acceleration. It could be speculative, but it would be welcome for new buyers. I have no faith in them offering to prior model years but it would be nice if the MME would have more consistent performance chops to back the nameplate.

Probably the new motor from the rally that's going to change up the PE.
My big question is if they're going to put the new sync in it like china's 24 mme gets.

New sync would be nice and a better app. My security camera apps connect light-years faster than the Ford app. It's absurdly slow.

The main reason I won’t be getting rid of my ‘21 is the metal roof. I ordered it that way for weight savings. Unfortunately, Ford married the 360 cameras to the glass roof. Happy to see that the Rally has 360 cameras. Hopefully the GT will follow suit. Of course, that won’t help my car and junkyard parts are stupidly expensive right now. ?‍♂?

Yeah, I'd happily do w/out the glass roof. I intentionally avoided sun roof on F150 and lots of guys were all "never had problems with them, always great" -- now the forum is filling up with all sorts of winter leaks and what not. Not exactly the same as the MME, but the glass roof only adds to summer temps. Sure as hell can't see out of it from the front seat.

IMO the GT does not need a quicker 0 to 60. It needs a higher top end and a higher trap speed. It also should be able to complete a few laps on a testing track without falling on its face. Consistent power for at least 2 to 3 laps would be sufficient.

I agree and would prefer a metal roof too I never ride in the back of the car and like you suggested, the driver does not get to appreciate the glass. We had a deer bounce off the roof of our metal roofed Volkswagen Atlas without any damage. I cannot imagine what would have happened to my MME had I driven that on that day.

If you read between the lines and notice what it does and doesn't say, you'll have your answer.

I thought it was pretty clear. I know a lot of people put a lot of faith in statements attributed to Darren Palmer, but he has a pretty poor track record. I’d say almost as reliable as the Free Press for information on Ford’s future plans ? (I’m not faulting him - he probably doesn’t have much insight.)

"Opportunity for optional performance upgrade, delivering the quickest 0-60 time of any production Mustang Mach-E ever. More details on the upgrade will be shared at a later date"

This is all acceleration. The 5 second limit doesn't apply to the 0-60 time. I'm guessing its optional Trofeo R tires or something stupid like that. Maybe better traction control.

The new inhouse rear motor has a bit more power / torque it only needs to be 0.00001 faster to be classed as faster in the world of the press releases without stated timed. So chances are the reduction in time will come from the extra torque, and possibly better launch control which is non existent on the GT/GTPE as it will just needlessly spin the tires.

0-60 is over in under 5 seconds so if it still has the same power limits then a slightly better 0-60 isn't really going to be much use as all you do is get to experience everything grinding to halt at 70mph faster. We all know this is the albatross around the GT/GTPE neck and the one that needs fixing.

Incorrect and has been verified by numerous owners in states like AZ, CA, and FL.
I can say they're full o chit. Single pane glass will always be hotter than a metal roof with an insulation layer followed up with a headliner. I have a both. It was a statement, not a question.
