Wondering what this optional (probably another subscription scam) performance upgrade looks like. It would be nice if we can at least get a trial of it, like we used to with Netflix or Disney+ before committing. Article is on Car&Driver.

Curious where this sits in relation to the Rally version as well, which is supposed to have a bump over the GT. Maybe a bump across the whole lineup.

Unless you're buying a 2024 Mach-E GT I wouldn't worry about it.

I would guess that it would be a one time fee. Doesn't make sense for a performance upgrade be a subscription, there's no connected data service or any on going update needed.

Since the Rally is getting the new in-house rear motor and associated electricals and electronics, my guess is that the new GT is too. One can only hope that they divorce the glass roof from the GT to be in line with the Rally. ??

Ford is offering a new GT package that will increase the throttling limit from 5 seconds to 5.5 seconds for $4500 and it will be a lot like Tesla's Ludicrous mode. There will be pop-up with a warning that if you go full throttle for the entire 5.5 seconds you lose your warranty with a yes or no button to accept said terms.

Didn't tesla offer an OTA performance upgrade for a one time fee? Likely be inline with that.

Tesla did. It was about $2k for 0.5 second boost.

I think the Ford cost will be closer to 1/4 of that amount. $2k is way too much.
I wonder if this upgrade can be had by older models? Not sure that is something that I would pay for, but I guess it depends how much of a performance upgrade we're talking about.

We don’t need chits. We have the HVBJB to keep track of that for us. ??

If you read between the lines and notice what it does and doesn't say, you'll have your answer.

Does anyone know how/how much Kia sells their "boost" upgrade for the EV9? I would potentially be interested in a one time upgrade for a reasonable fee, but I'm not interested in a subscription if that's the angle they take.

Meh, it's an advertisement for a new car, not the feature. It may end up being the case that only the cars with the new motors get the upgrade, but I'm not jumping to that conclusion from an advertisement for the new model year car.

Edit to add, the Ford literature doesn't say 2024 at all.....

  • Opportunity for optional performance upgrade, delivering the quickest 0-60 time of any production Mustang Mach-E ever. More details on the upgrade will be shared at a later date
