This happens when I go through the carwash as well. Now that I expect it I plan my exit strategy so I can use the mechanical brakes a few times before getting near an intersection/people. Freaked me out the first time it happened for sure.

This has happened to me both after washing the car at home in the driveway and during heavy rainfall. And it's a pretty scary feeling braking before a roundabout from going 50 mph and the almost 2.5 ton heavy car continues as if it has no intention to slow down.
I remember some twenty years ago VW had similar problems with a version of the Passat that was recalled because the brakes were affected by rain and spray from the road.

I haven’t put mine through an automatic car wash yet. It has not happened in driveway washes. The brakes are a bit less responsive, but they work after a wash. ?‍♂?

Ok well I am glad I have found others that have had this issue. Mine just started to happen recently. 2 weeks ago I was driving home. We were in wet snow conditions. I came off the hwy with no issue then was driving down the main road at 60KMh the car infront of me braked so I hit my brakes. Only to have my MME GTP not stop and I had to swerve to ensure I didn’t hit the car. My first thought was the car had slipped on maybe an ice road so I started driving more carefully. Well all the way home from there every time I went to slow down I wasnt stopping and had to force the brakes to the floor. The next day it was ok. But it was dry. My wife went out on the weekend and it was cold and rainy again. She went to stop and nearly went through an intersection and got T boned with my kids in the car. Currently my car is now sitting at the dealership when I have said I don’t want it back until they figure out what is wrong with it

It’s the wet snow.

What are you expecting your dealership to do?

You can force the issue and make them drive your car in wet snow and see if it’s harder to brake (it likely will be, because wet snow).

But then what? Replace the brakes? Even if they did, it’ll still be harder to brake in wet snow.

It is possible something is wrong with your brakes, but like you said, they were fine the next day. So I’m a bit skeptical.

So I have been driving cars for 30+ years. This is also my 3rd EV. I know how to drive in wet and dry weather. As the original poster had mentioned the car keeps rolling. This has nothing to do with wet snow. Cars if brakes get wet should still stop. If you do some research you will actually see that this in an issue with ford in general. I have found post with mustangs GT performance having the same issue. Again this is not just a wet snow issue it happens in the rain as well

Ok, so you think the Ford brakes suck when they’re wet. What do you expect the dealer to do to fix that?

I don’t have snow to compare to, but I can tell you even driving through standing water puddles the car still stops (although not as fast).

Is this a constant issue for you in the snow or was this the first time this happened for you? Not sure how you can say it has “nothing to do with wet snow” when that’s what caused the issue. ?‍♂

Do you use 2Pd or 1PD? Could be a blended braking thing too.

Not sure what’s so hard to understand. Never said just snow. It’s when they are wet. But not all the time. Never said ford brakes suck. Said this has come up with mustangs as well. I also have a 2022 F150 lariat and it’s perfect in rain snow dry it doesn’t matter. There is clearly an issue as I’m not the only person that this has happened to. What I expect is for the issue to be addressed. Maybe you haven’t experienced this issue happen but when it does then maybe you will realize how serious it is. Again this is a brake failure and needs to be addressed

The part I’m failing to understand is if it’s a fixable issue. Trying to get more info on what the problem really is.

You have to push the brake pedal all the way down to stop when the brakes are wet?

Sounds like a blended braking issue but it could be totally normal.

Our cars use regenerative braking for most of our braking. (The brake pads and rotors have nothing to do with it).

Only when you brake hard or are coming to a complete stop will the friction brakes kick in. And if they’re wet and or covered in wet snow, it may take more brake pedal to stop. So it could be perfectly normal.

You also said your brakes were perfect when dry. So that tells me your pads and rotors are likely fine.

So if it isn’t the pads and rotors, what do you want the dealer to do?

I want the dealership to fix an unsafe car. As mentioned I have driven for 30+years. Had 3 EV’s so well versed in regen braking. There is something wrong with the brake set up on this car. You should not have to drive a car and when you go to brake the car does not stop. Maybe to add this happens when 1 peddle drive is on or off. Correct me if I am wrong. This is a brake by wire set up. That would tell me that when the brakes are wet this car is getting the wrong feedback and not reacting correctly when braking. I read in another forum that the dealership reflashed the software and it fixed their problem. I am not putting my family at risk driving a car that under certain conditions it will not brake. Again this post was started by another MME owner that had had a similar issue so clearly there is a problem. Not sure why you keep asking what I want the dealership to do. It’s simple figure out the issue and fix it.

Well, keep us updated what they find.

You may want to search to see if there is a TSB you can point them to. If not they may give you the “we couldn’t recreate the problem” brush off.

I will definitely keep an update for everyone as it seems to only happen when it’s colder I had no issue in the warmer conditions. This may be an unsolved problem I don’t know. But all I know is I can’t risk it going unchecked. It is literally like having brake fade when you race a car on the track and the brakes get heated up to much but in this case it’s when cold around -1 to +5 degrees

just to let you know, this is now an issue In Denmark where several Mach E’s recently also Got the “problem”
Most of the time also happening during wet conditions.
I have myself experienced it 4-5 times and it is definately not fun.

Ford DK has started an investigation into it and dealers have been informed to report any customer with the problem.

Ok that’s good to know. Any insight that I can provide my dealership will be helpful.

Are those with this problem using 1PD? I almost never press the brake pedal.
