Folks,

As always, 1yr and 25 days after delivery, rear tailgate mounted taillight has developed a fault, probably due to water ingress/condensation (drivers side- issue/passenger side - perfect). no accident or damage to the light, is this still a warranty item?

Cheers - Tallguy

Absolutely!

Give your dealership a call and book it in, then raise a ticket with Ford Customer Relations Centre ([email protected])

Between them they should get you sorted :)

There is now a TSB so it should be covered under warranty. I actually had mine taken care of yesterday due to water coming out of the trunk door inner handle. I believe the fix (which took them two hours to complete) was to remove the lights and apply sealant. Perhaps in your case they have to replace the lights.

Thanks - don't happen to know the TSB number by any chance?

Just as a word of caution - TSB numbers for Ford US and Ford EU are often different.

We’ve had no end of people here go to a dealer with a forum provided TSB and the dealers say it doesn’t exist. ?

Hi @tallguyuk, did you get this issue sorted. Mine has just developed the same issue and I was wondering how you got on and if you happened to know if there is a UK/EU TSB number for this issue. I've also got water ingress into the tailgate itself which is covered under TSB 23-2360 in the US (not related to the separate tail lamp issue).

Yes I had and still have condensation in one of my tailgate rear lights. The dealer won't do anything until I practically have a fishtank in it as per Ford official instructions. Of course the car is out of warranty although I did report it within the 3 year warranty.

That’s disappointing, hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

How’s your dealer? Sandicliffe Nottingham are great!

Not really had a look but is it a big job to DIY it if no joy with them?

No problem, see what you mean, for anyone without the confidence and technique probably is a bit daunting.

I’d help tallguyuk if he needs and he’s on one of my day trip routes if he likes.

My '23 MME also occasionally gets water/condensation in the tail lamps. It typically happens when I go through a touch-less car wash.

I usually forget about it untill I look the car over after a wash. It's super annoying, but seems to evaporate fairly quick. Maybe some day I'll get the ambition to tackle this DIY.

Side note, I feel like Ford may have more widespread issues with water intrusion and proper sealing. The day I discovered water in my tail lamp, a co-worker informed me that he's been having issues with water in his Bronco sport's tail lamps. The dealership tried to fix his water issue to no avail. Anadotically, he noticed that most of the Bronco sports on the dealer lot also had water in their tail lamps. Also, the one time I left my MME at the dealership, my late model Ford Edge loaner had water in it's tail lamps.

One last thing, years ago I had a 2002 Mercury Cougar 5MT. I loved that car and held on to it for 10 years. It's only problem was a leak in the hatch area that the dealership could never chase down or remedy.
