My '23 premium, 3600 miles.....got in car, pressed start button, and heard a loud clunk from rear of car after putting it in "drive"......when driving heard a thumping noise, like when you have a flat tire......nothing visible, no damage, no tire issues......called my dealer, their flatbed was very busy so they sent a mobile tech and a loaner......I had said I could drive it in, they didn't want me to in case of a problem with the brakes.....

it ended up being the bad brake pad/rotor issue that Ford has the TSB on......it took the EV guy a few days to get to my car, had to order the brake pad, came the next day.....took a day and a half to do the repair with the "upgraded" pad......

this was the first "problem" I've had with the Mach E, my '21 Select had NO problems other than the Windshield recall....

the loaner was a sport bronco with only 1500 miles on it.....not bad but not the Mach E......I haven't driven an ICE in 5 or so years and then it was a C Max which I would go months before buying gas, haha....

I have a very good relationship with my dealer, as I have said in the past, I reserved in person with them in 2019, ordered with them in 2020, picked up my Select in Feb, '21, then ordered and pu my '23 Premium in Feb '23......I liken it to going to that restaurant where you are a regular......

My salesman and the manager that I always deal with were on top of the repair as was the service tech with phone calls telling me what was going on......and as a small bonus the car was charged to 99% when I picked it up.....a pretty good experience.....

Yes, and the car was ordered Feb. 2023, picked up June 28. 2023 and built, I think May, 2023.....I too figured it would have been dealt with.......one TSB is from '21......the fact it is still an issue is annoying.....but the great treatment I got at the dealer took some of the sting out of it

I don't understand why you had to wait for the "EV guy" to look at it. Isn't any repair tech at the dealer capable of replacing pads and rotors? Lots of reports from users on this forum about long wait times at Ford dealers. I think repairing something not related to the EV battery or drivetrain should be able to be done by any capable repair tech.

Yes, but at first they did not know what was the problem.....the dealership made contact with big Ford to be sure......it only took 2 days to wait for the EV tech plus I had a new bronco sport to use as a loaner.....I know some folks wait a long time but I didn't, 2 days plus a day and a half to do the job, which would have taken 1 1/2 days no matter who did the job......

and after reading your post, I asked my service advisor how long it would have taken to get to the car by a non EV tech, he said the wait would have been the same 2 days, soooooo.......

I don't know you but I guess thanks for being concerned about the time I had to wait......I thought I got pretty good service from pick up, new bronco loaner, and what I thought was timely repair....

Well, well. Got in the car this afternoon. Put it in drive. Clunk. Drove down the street, thump, thump. thump. Apply the brake BANG,BANG. Back home. Its Saturday night so will wait till Monday ah but that is a holiday.
Now if this issue is with pads getting wet then why in hell would they put them on a car going to the the Canadian rainforest!

After thinking about this. I exclusively drive single pedal so I can see how this would be a problem. The pads and rotors get wet, you park the car and the wet, cold pads lock on to the wet cold rotors.
If you were driving in two pedal mode you would have applied the brakes a couple times and heated everything up but single uses the motors so no friction on the pads and rotors to heat them up. Should be a big asterisk in the manual. At least I think this is the issue?

The MME has blended braking. Two-pedal driving uses regenerative braking too.

Sounds exactly what "happened" to me......I would print out the TSB, just in case that is your problem......if nothing else showing the TSB to your dealer shows them you are an informed owner......the TSB notice should be in the thread somewhere, otherwise google it.....good luck.....

I don't have this problem (that I know of), but I asked my dealer to look at the brakes anyway last time I was in. Mine is a 2021, and the dealer said the brake pad warranty is only 1 year.

I would hope defective brake pads would be covered longer than 1 year.

Does anyone have experience with warranty covering this after 1 year?

As @generaltso said the MME always uses blended braking. It doesn’t hurt to occasionally use the brakes harder than normal (whether using 1PD or 2PD), especially when you park on a wet day. I mostly let Unbridled mode’s regeneration slow the car down but occasionally take part in high-performance driving so the brakes get occasional hard use. ??

Location location location.

I’ll be putting in the Raybestos rotors in the next couple months. I’ll skip the Ford parts. I don’t see the point in this rusting stuff they just keep sticking on the cars for really what is crazy money. My factory rotors have been turns 4 or more times, they’re dead so of course I get the $700+ quote to replace the rotors that should have lasted nearly 50k at least. My ‘13 FFE has never had the brakes touched in 97k and still has more than 1/2 the pads.

I should mention I wash my MMe or it’s in rain maybe 4 times this year. I’ve stopped because of this stupid pad problem.
