I had the shudder on my trip recently, but it went away after hard braking. It really is just the build-up on the rotors from infrequent use. Take a long stop and go trip in Whisper mode, should take care of it.
the modes don't change the ultimate amount of regen or friction brakes.

in any mode, to use the friction brakes you have to stop really aggressively. To engage the friction brakes you have to do the neutral braking method described earlier OR occasionally stop Much more aggressively than most drivers realize.

Pretty sure Whisper the friction brakes engage more than the regen, but anyways definitely did some hard braking and it went away

I've done brakes on other cars with disk rear brakes... on those, the parking brake is actually a separate drum type brake inside the rotor. The parking brake is separate from the rear disk brakes on those. (BMW and Cadillac)

Does anybody know if Ford does the same or do they actuate the rear disks when the parking brake is engaged?
The MME parking brake is similar to my T/A and my Blazer (which has 1980 El Dorado calipers in the back). It has a mechanism that squeezes the pads onto the rotors. Non-integrated drum parking brakes became popular in the late-‘80s. Many cars have gone back to an integrated caliper-based parking brake since they have made them a lot better than they were back in the ‘70s. ??

Unless the pad rusts to the rotor is it's slightly damp out..

You get less regen when lifting off the accelerator pedal in Whisper, but the amount of regen when using the brake pedal is the same in all drive modes. That's why shifting to neutral before braking is the best way to ensure you're using the friction brakes.

Easier way is to turn off Advanced Track (Press & hold TC button). This will turn off regen completely and you will use the friction brakes.

If you want to use the mechanical brakes shift in neutral while at speed or going down a hill. Then only the physical brakes will apply. I do that once a week to keep the rotors clean.

In my testing, regen when lifting off accelerator is the same in all drive modes.
